@ProYapper8124 Then that person is a bad person. Most people upset about the buzzcut are not that, my feed is full of them crying laughing like normal fandom folks. And I don't know BBarbie, I just went into this thread bc I agreed with some of her points and disagreed with yours.

@ProYapper8124 The recast hims are just stupid people. The other ones are just upset and probably mean that Connor as a character Ilya with a buzzcut looks like an extremist etc.The truth is that this buzzcut does not look like book Ilya or season1 Ilya. So people are upset at that.

2/ for example if an actress playing Rapunzel went to set with bleached frost tips and pixie cut, they would not shrug and say 'welp she is Rapunzel so I guess this is what she looks like now". They would put a wig on her or delay the scenes. It's the same principle.

@ProYapper8124 Then let him film the movie but return as Ilya with curls. Buzzcut is not his decision when he's filming. This man is an actor. Either it's Jacob's (wrong) idea, or an idea from another director who took priority over HR and that's not fair.

@ProYapper8124 People love Ilya as a character and fandom is a place to be safely upset and "pathetic" over things. That's how fandoms work. Me personally, I hate the choice of hair for Ilya but I'm not crying over it all week - but I have empathy for those who do. At least the memes are funny

@ProYapper8124 XD Connor is an actor.His literal job entitles people to his hair.And it's not Connor who got a buzzcut, Connor is filming HR so it's Ilya who got it. Connor is not real Ilya. Connor-real person.Ilya-fictional. I think that is crux of the matter,you don't differentiate these two.

@ProYapper8124 If actor appearance=character appearance there would literally be no need for make up/characterisation/haircuts. If someone plays a monster and I call them monstrous in the film, I'm not insulting the actor, I'm describing the artistic choices.

@ProYapper8124 I say that Connor in this haircut for AN ACTING ROLE which the character is Russian looks similar to a hooligan-not insult. If I saw Connor on the street, outside of his roleand with his hair not being a character artistic choice but a PERSONAL one I would never call HIM that.

@ProYapper8124 I'm describing not Connor and his virtues, I'm describing a HAIRCUT CHOICE. Many Russian fans compare this haircut to obligatory military hair, and Ilya DOES NOT suit military haircut. He as a character grows his hair in spite of his father's wishes. How is pointing that wrong?

@ProYapper8124 As long as the discussion remains in fandom spaces and not Connors mailbox, I think being upset at 'losing' our Ilya is all ok. Everyone has their own idea of Ilya. I do feel trepidation that I will not enjoy season 2 as much because I will mourn the curls and that's alright.

@ProYapper8124 I agree,but tbh I haven't seen anyone call Connor that, mostly people discussing how this haircut makes him look like an extremist/aggressive and I do agree.His amazing Slavic accent and buzzcut doesn't suit my Ilya at all, for me it brings up an image of Polish stadiumhooligan.
