“Government is measured by the welfare of its citizens!”
@PeterObi ✅
Based on global metrics, the Nigerian government is performing poorly, failing to translate its immense natural wealth into a high quality of life for its citizens.
Key assessment points 👇🏾👇🏾
1. Governance Deficits: Nigeria scores poorly on the World Bank’s Worldwide Governance Indicators, facing systemic challenges in the Rule of Law, Control of Corruption and Political Stability due to regional conflicts.
2. Economic Strain: Recent fiscal reforms, including foreign exchange adjustments and subsidy removals, have triggered runaway inflation. This has severely eroded domestic purchasing power and caused individual wealth to decline.
3. Low Human Development: The UNDP ranks Nigeria 164th globally on the Human Development Index, placing it firmly in the "Low Human Development" tier due to underfunded public systems.
4. Poor Health Outcomes: Weak healthcare infrastructure and fragile social safety nets keep life expectancy at birth at roughly 54.5 years, among the lowest averages globally.
International data had consistently showed deep institutional underperformance, leaving a profound disconnect between national resource assets and individual citizen welfare, still some Nigerians believe we are making progress. Pathetic.
Political leadership in Nigeria has historically faced criticism for widespread corruption, economic mismanagement, and a failure to translate abundant natural resources into basic human development. This has led to severe socio-economic challenges for the citizenry, including low purchasing power, inadequate infrastructure, and pervasive insecurity.
Citizen Impact
The most visible impact of political leadership on everyday life in Nigeria is the persistent gap between the country's oil wealth and the standard of living for the masses.
Key areas of impact include:
* Purchasing Power & Inflation: Citizens face significant economic hardship due to high inflation and low purchasing power. The inability to afford basic necessities consistently places Nigeria at the bottom of globally quality of life indices
* Insecurity & Safety: Widespread internal security challenges, ranging from regional insurgencies to local banditry, have impacted citizens' safety and daily mobility.
* Basic Services: Weak educational, weak healthcare systems, and poor infrastructure are frequently cited as the human cost of ineffective governance.
Quality of Life
The failure to prioritize human capital development has resulted in low quality of life markers across the fast-growing population.
* Life Expectancy: Life expectancy at birth in Nigeria remains low, reflecting the challenges in the healthcare sector and overall living conditions.
* Trust & Accountability: Historically, citizens have had minimal influence over policy, leading to deep public disenchantment, a lack of trust in leadership, and high civic apathy—especially among the youth.
The Path Forward
Despite these challenges, civil society organizations and youth-led movements have become increasingly active in demanding accountability. Scholars and civic advocates argue that the future of the country’s democracy and living conditions relies on informed citizen participation and leadership selection based strictly on competence rather than patronage.👌
@Pharmacio001 who would you allow or vote to run your business if Nigeria 🇳🇬 is your business ❓
@jrnaib2 We must not allow the next set of our leaders to have a record that is doubtful!
@PeterObi@jrnaib2 I think you should purge your self from bigotry!
@Onsogbu “I therefore urge all young Nigerians: do not allow anyone to recruit you into hatred. Do not allow anyone to weaponise your ethnicity, your faith, or your admiration for respected leaders.
Question every narrative. Verify every claim.
Follow the facts. Resist manipulation.”👌
@Iyoaiye_@PeterObi “We must be careful not to become instruments in the hands of those who secretly nurture division while publicly preaching unity. In most cases, their target is not the individual being attacked; instead, it is the person who is attacking.”
A clear example of PO statement.👌
@firstladyship “You vote for progress, you vote for development, you vote for agricultural business, you vote for constant electricity 😭, you vote for good life…”
How Far Nigerians?
@realkenokonkwo Atiku might have had a deal with Tinubu when he was in APC, to continue running for presidency until it’s Northern turn. Just to give him(Tinubu) competitive advantage over others. Bcos in the Last presidential election, I can’t imagine Atiku being declared as the 1st runner up.
@MikeArnoldTruth@CAspirewealth@PeterObi “The federal government of Nigeria does not want me Peter Obi to be candidate of any party, but I will be candidate!” 😎🤔

@OgarEmmaOwogeka@PeterObi@NwaJesus2021 Coming from a claimed Nigerian“lawyer” 😭. How did we get here.
How does cutting cost of governance impact poor masses negatively?
@grok, from his write up, I could deduce betrayal from close allies, but he allowed it. His quote “Nigeria needs you” was misconstrued.
That funds spent on Presidential and Governorship campaigns would have been enough to make an everlasting impact in these sectors(Agrotech hub, Security-Tech, etc) you mentioned in Nnewi community and beyond.
I hope he re-strategise and come back stronger because Nigeria truly needs him.
@grok, He is from Nnewi in Anambra State, I was expecting that he should start from his local and community projects, with his international connections, make his immediate commitment a priority that every Nigerian will dream of belonging to. That will change a lot of narratives .
