Kiddush Lunch: 12:30 PM
3 years ago at the Illinois State Fair, Chabad volunteers discovered Pinchas was Jewish. Yale, an old family friend, later helped confirm it.
This year, during the Fair, Pinchas and Yale stood together at our minyan for the first time.
A beautiful full-circle moment!
Thankful to be part of tonight’s Menorah lighting and to speak alongside Governor Pritzker.
His message of unity and light means a great deal.
Happy Chanukah!
I’m proud and eternally grateful to be the governor of a state where we cherish our diversity.
In joining together with our Jewish community to light the menorah tonight, Illinoisans once again have reaffirmed that the light outshines darkness.
Happy Hanukkah.
When my mother told me this, I was amazed.
A calendar sparked a weekly connection.
And somehow, the only two women at this gathering she didn’t know—3.5 hours from Springfield—both had stories about her son.
Small world. Big impact.
My mother was at a small gathering in Chicago—5 women, 2 she knew. The rest? Total strangers. Or so it seemed.
Then one turned to her and asked:
“Wait… are you Mrs. Turen? Is your son in Springfield?”
Then the other woman my mother didn't know chimed in: “That’s wild—my brother lives in Springfield. After his stroke, I saw a Chabad calendar on his counter. His aide used it for appointments. It gave me the idea to call Chabad.”
And since then? I’ve been visiting him weekly.
There are no words to fully capture the pain after today’s attack in Boulder. This one hits very close to home.
Some victims, including elderly individuals, were taken to the hospital, and we are praying with all our hearts for their full and speedy recovery.
@SenatorDurbin joined us for a public menorah lighting in celebration of Chanukah — a meaningful reminder of the importance of religious freedom and public expressions of faith. Wishing him well as he prepares to close this chapter of public service.
