literally everybody: thinks
cogsci papers: using your brain is so easy most people and even some dogs do it ... yet it is also among the most complex and demanding challenges faced by the human mind
@confusionm8trix if you are brave enough to suffer a voice lesson despite shame in struggling, you are well on your way. bravery and patience will, with time, lead you to wonderful feelings and joy in singing beyond imagining. dw, you will make it. best of luck and enjoy!!!
@confusionm8trix things come online bit by bit, you can’t get everything at once. releasing some of the responsibility to your teacher helps. but i think the unique terror and humiliation builds great character in singers! it will bring artistry, groundedness, and faithful humility to all you do
@confusionm8trix sucking at voice sucks singularly and the development period is brutal. if you’re a competent musician, you aren’t the problem. though the process is slow and difficult, you’ll make it through. the more you know abt what breaks, the easier to dx and fix it
@confusionm8trix beyond that, the task is not actually to execute well… it’s to evaluate the exercises and how/whether they work for you!!! then report to your teacher in your lesson and say like this felt great, this wasn’t clicking. your teacher is the technician, not you.
@confusionm8trix i don’t have context for your experience but i have experience in voice, struggling with it, and how upsetting it can be. please feel free to dm i’m happy to talk abt it
@confusionm8trix if you aren’t progressing, the issue might be your teacher. vocal pedagogy is hard!
ten min isn’t enough time to work rep, that’s just time to warm up the voice and mind. you shouldn’t seek perfection there, it’s not the main event! you should begin w things you can’t miss
