500 days of war.
500 days of GeoConfirmed project.
One big warning:
It is essential to be cautious about the information, assumptions, and conclusions shared on social media.
After 500 days, 500 days of GeoConfirmed data, we can conclude that many people are trying to use the war for their benefit by spreading disinformation and misinformation. From both sides of the spectrum:
(Pro-) Russians and (Pro-)Ukrainians.
They do this by spreading what people want to hear, which helps them gain more followers, attention, and a more extensive reach. Unfortunately, many so-called experts lack the knowledge to make certain assumptions or takes and instead spread information based on what they want it to be, rather than looking at the facts.
If you follow an account that makes (bold) claims (if it has 10 or 100000 followers doesn't matter) always look to the history of it:
What is the expertise?
How good were the previous assumption/conclusions?
Does it make sense what is written?
Does it has a scientific basis?
Why would this account come to this conclusion?
Important one: Can this be proven in the future?
(It's unbelievable how dumb some people are: making claims that easily can be proven with commercial satellite imagery or with geolocation)
Some examples:
1. Everyone remembers the attack on the Kerch bridge.
Based on our data and after consulting experts in the matter we came to the conclusion that the truck was responsible for the explosion.
Read it here: https://t.co/giQ2W8o7RQ
273 days later this conclusion still stands.
Today Ukraine for the first time admitted they attacked the bridge.

New York Times investigation:

Although in those days we had people claiming that it was ATACMS or it were USV's...
Good selling stories. Got a lot of traction. But based on what? Nothing.
(Just recently the US is discussing the delivery of the ATACMS.)
Here we made a thread about disproving the non fact based claims: https://t.co/tTlztVn1bZ
Here we even had Chuck asking for apologies while he was wrong (again): https://t.co/8kfnBS5rna
2. Shelling of Kramatorsk Train station.
Russia claimed it had no Tochka-U's and couldn't be the responsible for the Kramatorsk Shelling...
Our investigation proved otherwise: https://t.co/G1Ux7TELjh
3. Ukrainian soldiers intercept women and child.
Ukrainian soldiers stopping a car, being rude and shouting at a crying women and child.
Only: it was filmed in Russian occupied territory. Because of our fact check some official Russian accounts deleted their tweet. (What is rather unseen)
https://t.co/QjPr6DTFy0
4. The first USV attack in Sevastopol. Russians claiming they repelled them all outside the Harbor.
They didn't:
a. https://t.co/VBskxaDRhE
b. https://t.co/SRPdCYg1Z8
c. https://t.co/vjp4znqvha
5. Ukraine shelled a hospital.
They didn't: https://t.co/NIpVS0C81A
and the list goes on...
Almost all our debunks were from (pro-)Russian claims. Only a few debunks were (pro-) Ukrainian claims. After 500 days we can definitely state that (pro-)Russians spread way more dis- and misinformation than (pro-)Ukrainians.
That is a fact.
Conclusion:
If you want to look at/investigate things always keep this in mind: "The simplest explanation is usually the best one." (Occam's razor

After 500 days we can concur with this statement: People want to believe fairy tales but most of them are just boring but logic conclusions.
For our followers we have one advise left:
Stay Calm and Wait for GeoConfirmations.
Thanks to all our volunteers, all over the world.

@Pravdask Dopad bojkotu bol mozno zmazaný aj keď negatívnou, ale predsa len mediálnou kampaňou. Okrem toho, asi majú dosť slabú konkurenciu takže napriek hnusnému osvetlenie v predajniach a webu z minulého storočia sa im očividne darí...
