Teacher. Lifelong student. Appalled by stigma & discrimination in all their ugly forms. Sometimes shocked but never surprised at injustice. Hopeful of better.
Colin and Eithne Bell are actual saints.
What they have done since their son Kevin's death has never ceased to amaze.
The Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust is unique, and so are they.

Thanks to all who are sharing your litigation experiences.
And I Agree.
There is nothing more corrosive to the administration of justice than a solicitor who pretends to act for a client while, in reality, advancing the interests of the opposing side.
This is not mere negligence or poor judgment - it is a fundamental betrayal of trust.
A solicitor’s duty is clear: to act in the best interests of their client with independence, integrity and undivided loyalty.
When that duty is compromised, the damage extends far beyond the individual case.
It undermines confidence in the legal system itself.
Litigation is adversarial by design.
Clients are entitled to assume that their own legal representative is not part of the opposition they are meant to challenge.
When that line is crossed, it is not just professional misconduct: it raises serious questions of ethical breach and abuses of process.
The rule of law depends not only on courts and statutes, but on the honesty of those who operate within it.
Without that, justice becomes little more than theatre.
I have a particular disdain for those who choose to earn a living in this way - especially when it yields them significant financial rewards at the expense of the very clients they are duty-bound to protect.
Who is the #FFG Minister who made slur against hunger striking abuse survivors?
A Government minister claimed a hunger strike “would not do any harm” to one of the campaigners who sought an apology from the State over institutional abuse, a TD has claimed in the Dáil.

Great Analysis From Mary Regan: SNA controversy exposes State’s ingrained attitude to people with disabilities -✊Quote ‘the historically ingrained belief that what the State offers to those with greatest need is a benefit, rather than an essential right’

Early Sunday start kicking off my first overseas trip of 2026.
First stop: Ethiopia, the largest recipient of Irish Aid funding. Then, on to Uganda.
A packed week ahead seeing the Irish people’s investment in development at work.
I dont tend to post personal stuff on twitter ( refusing to call it X) but my daughter is at risk of losing her SNA due to the cutbacks. This service is vital for her. Please sign the petition

Its amazing how damn accurate Yes Prime Minister was as a series when it comes to exposing corruption and cover ups in government.
As the video states, this could be Starmer and Mandelson or any number of things. Worth a watch

Four men, including a father and son, have appeared in court charged with more than 170 offences arising from a “large-scale” investigation into alleged corrupt practices at the Kildare and Wicklow Education and Training Board. - @MaryCarolanIT
The four include Seán Ashe, the former chief executive of KWETB, and his son John Ashe.

My thanks for the messages of support as news broke of the charging of 4 people in connection with the #kwetb Raising concerns while on the Board was near impossible . There is much to be learned-from before, during and after the investigation started https://t.co/5OPR0k5x8G
I can’t say I’m surprised by the revelations at the Public Accounts Committee today.
Beaumont Hospital’s new HR/payroll IT system was projected at €1.9m in 2020, but has now cost €4.8m – that’s an overspend of €2.9m of public money. Even worse, there was no tendering process, serious failures in governance and oversight, and the Audit Committee was bypassed or ineffective.
As a healthcare whistleblower, I have seen this pattern before. Weak governance, lack of accountability, and a disregard for proper procedures are far too common in our health system.
This is exactly why whistleblowers are so important. Without people prepared to speak up, these failures would remain hidden and the waste of public money would continue unchecked.
The big questions remain:
👉 Where is the Government?
👉 Where is the Minister?
👉 Who is protecting taxpayers from this kind of waste?
Oversight is not optional.
Transparency is not optional.
Value for public money is not optional.
It’s time for real accountability in our health services – and time to properly protect and listen to whistleblowers. That means independent oversight of Section 38/39 hospitals, not the self-policing that has failed us time and again.
Bizarre that there were no respected, appealing candidates, past or present to be found within FF. Opting instead for name recognition. Electability over substance, as with Seoige & Ní Mhurchú. No big scrutiny of policies. Less political fallout. Weak. #President#áras25
There is something bizarre that Fianna Fáil TDs etc are being asked to vote for Jim Gavin as the party’s nominee for the presidency, without knowing nothing on what he stands for. They do know what Billy Kelleher stands for, so why not go with him?
This is what Failure looks like👇 Our Parents & Grandparents built this Republic -Austerity cheerleaders have dismantled all ‘Commodifying’ everything from Homes to Health- Epic Fail -Average monthly rents now twice those of Celtic Tiger peak, data shows
