The Church is not Israel.

Throughout the New Testament, “Israel” always means Israel: the corporate ethno-covenantal people known as Israel. The term is never spiritualized into “the Church." Every single NT use of Israel (over 70 occurrences) refers to the Jewish people or the nation descended from Jacob. Even in the most debated texts (Romans 9:6, Romans 11:26, or Galatians 6:16) all still speak of Israel as a definable, ethno-covenantal entity. The NT writers simply never redefine the word. If God had intended to strip Israel of its plain meaning, the NT would show this clearly. Instead, it doubles down on the promises, the identity, and the future of the people called Israel.

When a Catholic online asks whether Mary is the mother of God, it is usually a setup. The aim is to box you into a reply that sounds like you deny the two natures of Christ. The right answer is simple: Yes. From a Christological standpoint, Mary is the mother of God because she bore the one person who is truly God and truly man.

But from a theological-dogmatic standpoint, that title proves nothing about Marian devotion, mediation, or veneration. It protects Christology, not Mariology.
