@IAMERICAbooted When SP2 for XP/2K3 came out, MS tried that and the world lost their collective minds with hate because MS “broke all their apps”. Now MS instead provides stronger guidance but leave it to customers so they aren’t blamed for bad apps.
@Ahmed___khaan Or you could grab a copy of my synthetic enterprise module from the gallery. It generates data that looks real, including secure dynamic user passwords and OU details, then just pass to creation cmdlet.
@merill They really need to just bite the bullet and release a full product update instead of these mini-updates. I know the product is "done", but at the same time, it isn't.
@PyroTek3 Those look like good items to add to my DataGen project. It generates people, accounts, machines, OUs and all that, and it does have sites from a locations perspective, but not subnets or AD Sites. hrmmm.
@techspence Visibility AND solid record of source baselines to compare against (e.g., CMDB, HR, etc.). Of course, most companies I have worked with have severe issues with the lifecycle aspects of this. If you don't know what you have and why, how do you know when it's wrong?
@IAMERICAbooted That’s why they’re worried about mythos…it might find all the secrets they forgot were there…or that management won’t let them touch because it will make ticket count go up.
@nickvangilder This is because most orgs got rid of the BA roles, whose job it was to understand the business and translate to IT. Most say that IT/Cyb should do this, but that’s not practical. The doing part takes a lot of time, and so does the BA part. Both need focus.
So I finally had opportunity to create a PowerShell module that I could actually release. Introducing SyntheticEnterprise.PowerShell, also known as DataGen. Use it to create realistic data to populate your lab envs - https://t.co/YgyIhPI0Pv for docs/walkthroughs.
@techspence See this so often, and the service accounts that have DA rarely actually need it. People just use it as the easiest way to grant access to all systems. Security accounts are often the biggest offenders with tools that won’t allow separate accounts for scans.
@PrzemyslawKlys The chat bits in the IDE are fine, so long as I don’t have to keep clicking retry all the time, like I do with copilot. I’ve been making progress with Claude, but only because I keep buying extra for when I hit the time limit. Will check out codex, thanks!
