Throughout the semester I have used Twitter to both spread and gain awareness. I plan to continue to do this since it allows me to stay aware of current issues and encourage others to get more involved in advocation for the rights of others, which has influenced me greatly!

@Jtash13 The vast scope of this issue is overwhelming! When most people think of DV they think that unless there are visible bruises that it is not happening. As this article points out that is not the case at all since there are so many different types of DV. Awareness is key!

@Jtash13 The formation of the TVPA (my policy) caused many individuals to feel it was a cop out that allowed the focus to be placed on larger issues that effect women, rather than issues such as DV. I do not think this was the case and I am glad that acts such as the VAWA were formed.

Human Trafficking affects millions of individuals each year and can come in many forms, including sexual and labor trafficking. To address this issue the United States enacted the Trafficking Victims Protection Act focused on prevention, protection, and prosecution.

@Michellesw13 Phone scams seem to be the most common in my area. For this reason, I provide many of my elderly clients with lists that can be placed beside their telephones at home that include several "warning" signs of a scam and how to properly report suspected scams. Education is key!

@cgomezsw2019 How can someone properly care others when they are not properly caring for themselves? Allowing them easy access to resources targeted specifically at caregiver relief it so important. For example, respite care that would allow them to have some time to care for themselves.

@MarciaParms I agree. I think we sometimes forget that these children need services just as much as the parents do since battling addiction is a family effort and changes are occurring that effect everyone involved.

@beedle_jamie Divorce can take a toll on all involved and the impacts can differ greatly, whether negative or positive. This correlation is interesting, but not really surprising. Since divorce is a prevalent part of our society, resources for adolescents should become just as prevalent.

@cgomezsw2019 @_MealsOnWheels is a wonderful program. It positively impacts multiple seniors and without the program they may not eat at all. Just as you pointed out, it is our responsibility to vote to ensure that those who cared for us are now the ones being cared for.

I think that more focus should be placed on this issue. Often times those released fall back into the same patterns and lifestyle, due to lack of services provided. I am glad to see Louisiana stepping up and making positive changes that will impact inmates transitions.

@beedle_jamie Introducing service animals at such a young age can help to familiarize children with the various types of interactions between humans and animals. Children are much more accepting and understanding if they feel they are being included and knowledge is being shared with them.

This is amazing! Service animals are available for individuals who have received a variety of medical diagnoses, so why not include mental health illness diagnoses as well? Especially since studies show just how beneficial the interaction between animals and humans can be!
