@lyssasphere Me, too!
My grandmother used to slice garden cucumbers in a jug of water & chill it in the fridge. More refreshing on a hot summer day than iced tea or Kool-Aid!
@AuthorGFAllen I'm currently juggling multiple projects: science fiction, off-world fantasy, historical fantasy, a short CNF piece, & two collections of (mostly) out-of-print short works.
Unfortunately, for the last few months it's been slow but steady work amid several RL challenges!

🤔
So, how many extra years would it take for them to read & comprehend science/history/lit/etc. lessons to pass 1st grade level?
I’m sure those kids would love more time in school. 🫠
@stephenRB4 Well, I had to learn a bit about aviation for a story.
You know, for that darn "v"-word: verisimilitude. 😉
But what I know re: TVs is from taking apart a broken analog portable to see the insides. Cool guts but I never figured out what all those parts did. 😏
@stephenRB4 I started a letter last night. Today's about to get too lively to finish (a combo handwriting + thumbnail illustrations), so I'll probably have to finish it tomorrow.
At least the envelope is ready to go Monday. 🖊️✉️ 😁
@ThrillaRilla369 None. There was 1 gay kid in a class younger than mine & 2 with older relatives born intersex.
There was no trendy indoctrination going on. Where I attended schools (cities & small towns), ppl/kids just accepted each other for whoever they were (late 60s/early 70s).
@Meredith_author Not yet. My published short works appeared in magazines/journals & in 2 collections carried by a small press until it closed.
Among my current WIP projects is reediting/reorganizing those out-of-print works to self-publish.
@SusanSavageLee1 Unlike w/real ppl, you can get under the skin/inside the scenes of a character to place clues re: [apparent] inconsistencies: flashes of foreshadowing or backstory, large/small parts of their arc or mystery not yet resolved, etc.
Members of my circus fantasy had several!
@stephenRB4 Hummus.
Every recipe ppl swore was wonderful ("Try it! You'll like it!") made me think of school or wallpaper paste mixed with 5 granules of garlic powder & parakeet grit for texture. 🤢
@DWARussell22 I'd be glad if ppl just rated books I'd sold in person bc of talking to individuals &/or at signing events. The ratings for my last book could've gone from 6 ppl to >30. Similar for my out-of-print books.
So many ppl are fed up with review requests for *everything* they buy. 🤷♀️
@stephenRB4 A few.
Of that few, most hit the creative + challenging sweet spot I especially enjoy but don't often find.
But even the simpler, less challenging ones were unpredictable & beautifully written &/or resonated strongly with me.
@_B___S All--purebreds or mutts.
A scant few breeds or mix types wouldn't be a good mutual fit for me or dog, but that's not to say they're not awesome dogs for other ppl.
@lyssasphere What happened‽‽
I don't always get to participate in his daily *think* questions, but I always look forward to seeing & pondering them amid my lively days.
Bring him back!!!

The Nod
Morning arrived mist-tangled,
snailslow,
hum-limbed.
The sky busied,
blueing itself
badly.
Inside my chest
a gamble-thorn,
small and whisper-jointed,
flickering.
A riskling mouthed:
go.
I went
and the riskling nodded.
