Mocha was a key entrepot of the Indian Ocean World. It was the primary gateway for Yemeni and Ethiopian coffee to reach Europe and Asia. Mocha also traded Indian textiles, southeast Asian spices, and aromatics.

An important role was played here by the Gujarati Muslim merchants from Surat. Interestingly, they were not muscled out by the Portuguese. The Ottomans backed by the Venetians managed to keep out the predators.

Even more interestingly, in 1635 the Qasimis kicked out the Ottomans too, holding both powers at bay for two centuries. The Qasimis dynasty were Zaydi Shitte, like the Houthis.

The Houthi conquest of Mocha today thus fulfills a sort of historical promise made in 1635.

Yemen's Ansarallah announce to have fired surface-to-air missiles at Saudi Air Force Fighter Jets over Taiz, forcing them to withdraw.

The statement adds that in the past 24 hours, Saudi air force conducted 64 airstrikes distributed across the provinces of Taiz, Hodeidah, Marib, and Al-Jawf, using F15 and Typhoon from bases in Taif & Khamis M.

In other words: Saudi Arabia will be targeted tonight.
