The final curtain has fallen!
Our deepest gratitude to Yuzuru Hanyu, all the skaters, and the organizing staff for inviting us. It has been a true honor for every member of the Tohoku Youth Orch. to perform in this special collaboration of figure skating and a live orchestra.
looking at the comment section of alysa free skate tiktoks and it fries me how they seem to think alysa is the Only Skater Ever to “skate with joy” and “not just skate between a bunch of jumps”
like?? if i was mone chiba id need a gun bc r we serious
stop calling PCS "the artistic score" excelling in components REQUIRES technical skill. having mediocre skating skills isn't a "personal artistic interpretation" or "subjective stylistic choice", it's an objective technical flaw. artistry is built upon absolute technical prowess.
Not everything is about "consumption" though. For ex. it means a lot to a Turkish skater to experience the Worlds, it becomes a matter of national pride too, although he knows that he wont rank among the top 20.
This has the same vibe as Timothee C.'s take on "ballet and opera"
he's talking like we expect them to do pointe when we know it's impossible w/ how hard the boots are. when we say "beautiful lines" it means fix your posture, extend your limbs, finish your movement, be one with the music. and that's just basic in any kind of style omg
yuzu coming back with even deeper edges, even better skating, even more unique spins and a brand new spin variation, far improved dancing, even more expressiveness on the ice... he is the goat your honor
