Building DeadAir with AI-assisted coding. Fully moddable, free, and open source. No AI-generated art, assets, writing, or story. Official story content will be free, but closed-source due to asset licensing.

@troygentic@FinanceDirCFO Oh here is the funny thing, with how heavy handed they banned AI. Linux is banned. You cant talk about projects that USE AI. Linus Tovalds used AI to debug an issue in the linux kernel recently, as such, LINUX IS A BANNED TOPIC ON THE OPENSOURCE REDDIT
@IzWestan91810 Yeah that stuff is stuff I dont consider needing to be flagged overall. Thats basically the same as going online and poking someone "hey, I got a bug, help fix" and that person doesnt need credit
@IzWestan91810 (thread got locked)

I would say depends on the extent, like "I cant make this work, this is how its supposed to work, rewrite this" is definately worhty, but "I dont understand why this function is not working, can you tell me?" is not
Working with AI to make a Game.
Game will be build to be extremely Moddable.
Game will NOT contain assets, writing, or story generated by AI.
Game will be Free and Open Source.
Official Story Content will not be Open Source (asset licenses), but will be Free.

@AriaALake@ErikExplains Customers do have a right to know that AI was used, but the producer should have the right to disclose *how*, not just blanket "AI WAS USED HERE",
IE: Making a game where the code for a few mechancis were made with AI, label those, not the project as a whole
@AriaALake@biigrem I am thoroughly against AI's that are trained off unethically sourced datasets, and if I had the hardware I would not be using Claude models. I would be using Qwen and Qwen Coder models.
@AriaALake@biigrem Have you by chance heard of Local LLM and/or ethically sourced datasets? Those do exist.
I do advocate for disclosures and labels on AI generated content but they cannot be blanket "THIS USED AI", they have to be nuanced about how it was used.
AI Code is better than ART/Writing.
@1notlov3 Why did i not think of this.
Anyways I did find the bug... the bone rotations were being initiated off the "scene root" at player init... based off where the controllers were, so some times it would load right, (once), others it would load wonky (a few times they went BACKWARDS!
@AriaALake@biigrem Genuinely, two major factors placed in order of BIGGEST to LEAST problematic
1) Skill Issue. I know how to make backend stuff, I could probably write the theoretical code for almost everything, its when I have to have UIX on that i struggle
2) time saving, I got a life, or try to
@cheaf25master TLDR from my understandinh, they make money from companies giving them their cheaper than dirt models, but then also other companies give them their stealth models to get information and feed back (big pickle for example, a day1 stealth model, its good, small, but good!)
@ccodyy69 A few steps
1) I throw it at my grey hat friend and go "find issues"
2) I throw it at my bug finger friend "find problems"
3) Throw it at agents being whitehat.
4) Redteam agents who have the source code.
.
Humans are better
@Shutwig I actually reallyu like this, it means people can clearly state "hey, only code was made with AI, rest is mine", or "I used AI as a rubber duck" basically
@DoctorFishbones Making a game with AI, I agree.
Its why the base game engine (built in godot) is free and open source, wont post the link because of haters slamming shit risks, but the story content and actual gameplay content? that will be a paid expansion that is made by hand. No AI. Hard No.
@OliverBugar As someone using AI right now to make a game, you have a good take on this, its not perfect, its no replacement for someone who knows what they are doing
but it gets people in the door,
@vineerpasam To put it simply, people are future proofing for something they dont need.
At MOST I future proof with my choices, Docker Compose stacks for migration, postgress for heavy story, sqlite for light storage, preactjs for web frontend, vendor stuff as needed. etc.
