this is why i’m drawn to horror and heavy stories that make you ugly cry.
because they’re familiar. they reflect everything we as humans actually go through.
grrm’s universe hits different when you realize it’s not dark for the sake of it. it’s just honest.
life is brutal. people leave, things fall apart, good doesn’t always win.
the sooner you open your eyes to that, the sooner you actually start living in reality.
ego death was the best thing that ever happened to me - it taught me that the version of myself i was so desperately protecting was the very thing holding me back
funny how you can achieve so much, yet feel like your life is falling apart. i wasn’t ready for how devastating this would feel after all the progress i’ve made. the system can crush you in ways you never expect.
Saw Robert Eggers’ latest film, “Nosferatu.” First time back at Cinema Chante in a while. Turns out it was June 1st—completely sold out. It felt like being in a dream the entire time, utterly spellbinding. As a fan of “Egga-chan (Robert Eggers, of course)” and of the classic Nosferatu (Dracula), I was completely satisfied. The worldbuilding, production design, costumes, lighting, the use of shadows and smoke, and the homage-style direction were all superb. Classic gothic horror can indeed be art.
