I love stanning characters who have complex personalities and impact the plot. I love how their presence is absolutely fundamental to the narrative. I love relationships with so much canon material backing them up. I love that all my faves make up the heart of the story.
@egganddunk my guess is that rhaenyra will not order addam’s arrest. instead she will order him to break the greens’ control over tumbleton in return for legitimizing him.
otherwise, addam’s loyalty makes no sense. he was only loyal in f&b because he was legitimized as heir to driftmark.
the outburst might be ooc for book!corlys who is a lot more politically savvy. but show!corlys has certain personality details changed to push a narrative where house velaryon’s conflict with rhaenyra is heavily downplayed, until the plot finally demands it for the fallout.
this is why having corlys’ aim change from continuing both his blood & name to just name was a bad idea. the show made corlys appear more subservient. but now that he’s suddenly favouring his blood having his name over anyone else, people find the change too jarring to accept.
Is this the biggest character assassination in House of the Dragon so far?
Because book Corlys and show Corlys suddenly feel like two completely different people.
The fact that he waited until Jace and Luke were dead before he said his mind, are the writers trying to make Corlys look like a coward or did they completely misunderstand his character?
I really dislike how hotd is depicting addam as someone with a lack of agency. he is entirely passive. things only happen around him with addam having no actual drive to do anything.
it’s just the complete opposite of his book counterpart.
one of the worst changes on the show is how much they’ve sanitized mysaria
that sex-trafficking pimp never cared for the common people 🙄 she would readily scapegoat them so she can hold onto power for herself
#HouseOfTheDragon star Emma D’Arcy says Rhaenyra discovering Daeron is an impostor and that Ormund deceived her “marks the beginning of a kind of paranoia” and “lack of stability” for her character:
“Ormund is a totally unknown quantity; he’s this kind of erratic element. And I think increasingly, and we see this as we go forward, he sort of becomes the boogeyman for Rhaenyra, and fuels a broader distrust of her council, her allies, her court at large.”

as much as I do feel bad for rhaenyra, I cannot overlook the fact that house velaryon is getting their storylines and characterization screwed over for her sake
@doubletamponne@Dinaemyra@Mayham_H show!corlys cares more about names than blood, so his actions in hotd are in character because he’s still concerned about the velaryon name. show!rhaenys was given book!corlys’ concern for blood.
@Mayham_H none of this answers the question of why rhaenyra thinks her sons are more worthy of the velaryon name than other people’s sons.
by what right does she interfere in the succession of other families when such actions have always been considered tyrannical?
