@darkpalacegames Ahh gotcha😄 That makes sense then. I'm curious to see the refined capsules when they're ready the game has an interesting atmosphere, so it'll be cool to see how you translate that into the final Steam presentation 👀
@Haddicus@TheIndieManiac The game looks interesting 👀 I checked out the Steam page too. I think the capsule could benefit from a more distinctive, game specific treatment rather than the somewhat generic AI-art look.
@Dravekor@TheIndieManiac The environment is looking really nice too👀 I could definitely see this translating into some strong Steam capsule art once you get to that stage. There’s a lot of atmosphere here to work with.
@madcatprimus@TheIndieManiac The game caught my attention 👀 I checked out the Steam page and I think the capsule could be pushed further. A more intentional focal point and stronger visual identity could make it stand out a lot more at thumbnail size.
@Harbourlight_ I really like the cozy direction. I was looking at the Steam page too and I think the visual identity could be pushed even further around the diner/cozy-life-sim angle.
@Bigpancreasdev That dark fantasy atmosphere already sounds interesting 👀 “The Sad Forest” is a pretty intriguing name for a first level. Curious to see what the environment looks like when you reveal more!
3 things I look at when designing Steam capsule art:
Can I understand the genre immediately?
Is the title readable at thumbnail size?
Is there one clear visual focal point?
A Steam capsule isn't just decoration, it has to communicate the game quickly.
Here's one of my design👇
@Dantalion_haf That makes sense 👍 The strategy and player decision-making should definitely come first, especially this early. I just think there's a lot of potential in the visual presentation too, so it'll be interesting to see how the game's identity develops over time 👀
@AshenSpireGames Yeah, that makes sense honestly. Balancing a full-time job with game dev is no joke 😅
I'd be interested to see the Unreal build when you stream it. Once the game starts taking shape, Visual direction you've established could translate really nicely into the store/capsule art too
