I'm super excited to be heading to Festival For The Future #FFTF24 in Wellington on Wed 17 & Thu 18 July. Last 2 years have been amazing. This year's lineup of speakers is awesome.

Siren Gold Mining has been invited to fast track an application to mine in the Golden Bay - if it goes ahead the crystal-clear waters of Te Waikoropupū could be lost forever. Join me in signing to save the springs from the fast tracked gold mine! https://t.co/PIXSLhZa0m
Wellington has some amazing underwater photographers - prepare to be stunned by their images of spectacular critters!

The NZ govt is proposing a number of changes to environmental legislation which will negatively impact biodiversity.
@nzecology joined nine other societies to call on the govt to slow the pace of these changes and consult more widely:

This is a great #Sustainability program. I completed it just a few months ago. Definitely recommend it. Happy to share more info about my experience if you are interested.
Great event #Phantomorthoptera by @WildlifeAcoust on the sounds critters make. Who knew male crickets climb up high grasses and point themselves downwards so their Stridulation sound is broadcast more clearly to the hopefully nearby female 😉
"It's time for decision-makers to take their bread & butter & eat a reality sandwich. We can't just saunter through a planet on fire like it's business as usual." Nicola Toki, CE @Forest_and_Bird ). And yet...
I just endorsed the campaign for a #FossilFuelTreaty — calling for a new international mechanism to manage a global just transition - accelerating an equitable shift away from fossil fuels.

I had never stopped to think about how long seabirds like these lived. I knew albatross can live to around 70 years. Makes you think about the damage introduced cats do to #NZ#native#birds in their 20 year life span.
Over the weekend one of our members read the numbers on bands on live birds that we had banded, and found quite astonishing longevity, a White Fronted Tern is now 25 years 4 months and 4 days old, while a Black Billed Gull is now 27 years 4 months and 7 days @DavidLawrie52
SOS! Save our seabirds - Ask #NZ Govt to introduce regulation for proven techniques fishers can use to reduce the number of seabirds caught https://t.co/TaaEm1QFJf via @Forest_and_Bird
How ethical and transparent are Whole Food's supply chains really? Selling #BlueTriton water is definitely not environmental stewardship @WholeFoods https://t.co/7q8ara8uT9
