The protocol uses a private escrow pattern for seamless, trustless trades. Here's the flow for trading asset A (e.g., tokens) for asset B (e.g., stablecoins):
1️⃣ Order Creation (Seller Side):
▶️ The seller deploys a private escrow smart contract on Aztec.
▶️ They privately deposit asset A into the contract.
▶️ Private state is set: specifying the desired asset B and quantity.
▶️ A partial note commitment is generated, a zk-proof structure with incomplete data (e.g., asset ID filled, but payment details blank). This allows later completion without revealing the original values or contract existence.
▶️ The seller shares order details (anonymously) via an Orderflow Service API, a non-custodial off-chain tool that only aggregates total volume for discovery no identities tracked.
2️⃣ Order Discovery (Buyer Side): Buyers poll the Orderflow API to find matching orders without exposing interest.
3️⃣ Trade Execution: The buyer privately interacts with the escrow contract:
▶️ Deposits asset B into the partial note, completing it atomically.
▶️ The contract verifies the payment via zk-proofs and releases asset A to the buyer.
The entire interaction is proven client-side and settled privately on Aztec no public logs of the trade, parties, or amounts.
