I've seen a lot of people avoid the champion as a subclass because it seems boring but what they don't realize is just how much power it has if you put any weapon in their hands https://t.co/PQJTgNOGRi

Genshin Impact Petition To "Stop Cultural Appropriation" Reaches 75,000 Signatures Genshin Impact developer Mihoyo is facing backlash over the lack of diversity in the upcoming Natlan expansion and is being accused of "colorism" by fans. A petition demanding Mihoyo to "stop cultural appropriation and whitewashing in MiHoYo games" has been gaining support, having recently passed 75,000 signatures. A number of English voice actors working on Mihoyo games have also joined recent calls for more accurate representation in the likes of Genshin Impact. Earlier this week, Genshin Impact developer Mihoyo came under fire from fans after the reveal of several characters being introduced to the game in the upcoming Natlan expansion. It's an area that is heavily inspired by African and Latin American cultures, but the expansion's cast of largely white characters had fans accusing the developer of "colorism." Mihoyo has yet to respond to these accusations, and it's possible the studio may ignore them altogether, but fans aren't backing down without a fight this time around. First spotted by VGC, players that feel fed up with the lack of diversity in titles like Genshin Impact, Honaki Star Rail, and Zenless Zone Zero have signed a petition to try and get Mihoyo to "stop cultural appropriation and whitewashing in MiHoYo games." The petition was started by an assumed Genshin Impact fan by the name of Aventurine of Stratagems and calls on Mihoyo to "commit to respectful and accurate representation of all cultures." They also explain that some enemies and NPCs in Genshin Impact and the Natlan expansion are black, but that this has further "sparked concerns of racism among players and indigenous communities." Aventurine of Stratagems, along with those signing the petition, are demanding that Mihoyo reverse existing content that is planned to drop in the Natlan expansion and to "engage with indigenous cultural consultants" to create diverse characters. At the time of writing, the petition has managed to get 75,000 signatures, with that number almost constantly crawling higher and higher. Over 10,000 of those signatures were gained just today. There have also been many calls from the English voice actors behind Mihoyo's lineup of titles for more accurate representation, who have been rounded up in a handy little thread by Twitter user Timely Harmony. Unfortunately, Mihoyo has shown very little signs of actually responding to the controversy and has even issued an apology about a completely separate issue via the official Genshin Impact Twitter account. We'll have to wait and see whether the problem gets loud enough to force Mihoyo into an official statement, though the studio is probably just hunkering down and waiting for things to blow over. This isn't the first time Genshin Impact players have been upset by the game's lack of dark-skinned characters, and if Mihoyo doesn't respond, it probably won't be the last.
Elden Ring Fans Wish Shadow Of The Erdtree's New Sekiro Mechanic Was A Talisman Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree introduces the Crystal Tear, allowing players to deflect attacks akin to Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. It's particularly effective against fast-paced bosses like Consort Radahn and Malenia's Waterfowl Dance. However, fans are dissatisfied with its temporary nature, activated through the Flask of Wondrous Physick for a mere five minutes per use. They argue that such a powerful mechanic should be a permanent talisman, akin to Dark Souls rings, which provide lasting benefits like damage boosts or spell slots. The temporary nature of the Crystal Tear complicates its use, requiring frequent activation and limiting practice opportunities. Despite its effectiveness, fans propose a trade-off if made permanent, such as reduced damage negation, to balance its impact on gameplay. Many posts advocate for its transformation into a talisman to enhance Elden Ring's combat mechanics, though the likelihood of such a change remains uncertain. As Elden Ring's sole DLC expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree introduces new challenges and enhancements, hinting at potential future developments in FromSoftware's repertoire.
Treyarch Says Omnimovement Can't Be Turned Off In Call Of Duty: Black Ops 6
When Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 launches later this fall, its new omnimovement system will be permanently on. This means players won't have the option to toggle it off; it will be integral to the campaign, multiplayer, and zombies modes, as revealed on the Call of Duty Podcast.
Intelligent movement assist, however, can be customized or disabled, offering players varying levels of control. While some may find this advantageous, others may find it challenging to adapt to the constant presence of omnimovement.
Omnimovement is touted as a foundational mechanic, enabling players to perform dynamic actions like multidirectional sprinting, sliding, diving, and stylish reverse dives akin to action heroes. According to Matt Scronce from Treyarch, once players experience omnimovement, reverting to traditional movement mechanics may prove unsatisfying.
It's important to note the distinction between omnimovement and the intelligent movement system, which simplifies certain actions to reduce button presses. While intelligent movement can be adjusted individually, omnimovement remains a fixed feature across all gameplay modes.
This decision has sparked curiosity and concern among players, especially since the system's implementation extends to all game modes, including zombies and the campaign. The upcoming beta phase, starting August 30, will provide players with an opportunity to assess its impact firsthand, potentially shaping opinions on its viability in future iterations of the game.
