@MichelleObama@aliciakeys Love you and hope one day to meet you.. You have inspired and enriched our lives across all lines.. you make this world better...
A big part of friendship is showing up for your girls—that’s why I was thrilled to be there for the one and only @aliciakeys at the #GRAMMYs. She is one of the most genuine and thoughtful people I know—there’s no one better to help us all celebrate the unifying power of music!
I am as outraged as the next person about all the white men being exposed for Black Face... but when do people start feeling outraged about sports teams using names like the redskins, or woman and men who dress up in barely there faux Halloween costumes meant to rep us?
I wish I didn’t have to focus on race.
But we constantly see it: different races, different outcomes.
These white boys are about to get the keys to the city for racist bullying & getting in verbal altercations (plural).
If they were Brown or Black, they’d be lucky to be alive.
They are trying to bully Native people out of telling our stories.
Don’t let them.
Believe what you see. We all seen what happened. Don’t bend over backwards to doubt our stories & believe theirs, no matter how unbelievable.
Believe what you see.
Nothing. The Black Israelites are a small group of disempowered individuals who don't own a building & have done us no historical harm. Why respond? There are billion dollar white religions that hate Natives & have enslaved us & committed genocide. I'd much rather focus on those.
In addition to being #MLK Day, today is also white people’s national “Let’s-use-a-disassociated-“love” oriented-MLK-quote-to-give-the-impression-that-MLK-wouldn’t-shut-your-racist-ass-down” day.
MLK was about that business. Don’t play like he was peace & love with no hardline.
