What is most likely to occur with the Great Nicobar project is that it will obviously result in a genocide of the local tribal population, and ecocide of the environment as well - but it will also not achieve anything even close to the development and strategic goals that were promised.
Eventually, the story will die out. The project will either be abandoned (assuming it starts), or be only partially completed - and will not deliver even a fraction of what it was planned for. But the local tribes, who are already voiceless, will be wiped out, and vast elements of the local environment and ecosystem will be destroyed.
Many such cases. Difficult to imagine a more quintessentially Indian outcome.
Biggest lie in the internet today - Great Nicobar Project is constructed for National Security
Then why are you constructing Casinos, Resorts, adventure sports and and entertainment clusters by cutting around 1 Cr trees?
National Security my foot 🤬
Big change for Oscars: International movies can now be submitted if they win a major film festival, even if their home country doesn’t submit. Will prevent great films from being snubbed for political reasons and make the Intl category even more competitive.
Dear Italy,
Your PM just defended Pope and lost an ally in Washington — the Commander in Grief, yet the most 'powerfool'man on earth.
We'd like to apply for the vacancy.
Our qualifications: 7,000 years of civilization, a shared love of poetry, architecture, and food that takes longer to prepare than Trump's attention span.
The only thing Iran and Italy have ever fought over is who invented ice cream. Faloodeh came first. Gelato came louder. We've been in a 'cold' war over this for 2,000 years.
Too on point not to share, “Aussie reply to Trump rant about NATO not being there for us.
Mate. You run a country with 600,000 homeless people sleeping on the street tonight. A country where 40% of adults can't cover a $400 emergency without borrowing money. A country where insulin costs more than a car payment and people are rationing it to survive. A country where medical debt is the number 1 cause of bankruptcy. A country where women are dying in hospital car parks because doctors are too scared of abortion laws to treat a miscarriage.
You lock up more of your own citizens than any nation on earth. More than China. More than Russia. More than North Korea. The land of the free has 2 million people in cages, and a quarter of them haven't even been convicted of anything. They're just too poor to make bail.
Your life expectancy is going backwards. You're the only developed nation where that's happening. Your infant mortality rate is worse than Cuba's. Your kids do active shooter drills between maths and English while you sell the gunmaker's stock to your mates.
Your minimum wage hasn't moved in 15 years. You've got teachers working 2 jobs and veterans sleeping under bridges and you just spent a trillion dollars flattening a country that didn't attack you.
And you’ve got a convicted felon, adjudicating raping, paedophile protecting, porn star shagging insurrectionist running the biggest dumpster fire war campaign since the Taliban thanked you very much for losing again.
And you're calling Greenland poorly run?
Greenland has universal healthcare. Free education. One of the lowest incarceration rates in the world. Nobody goes bankrupt there because they got sick. Nobody dies in a waiting room because their insurance said no.
"NATO wasn't there when we needed them." When exactly was that, champ? September 11? Because NATO invoked Article 5 for the first and only time in history FOR YOU. Soldiers from dozens of countries deployed, fought, bled, and died in Afghanistan FOR YOU. Australia wasn't even in NATO and we still showed up. For 20 years.
And you pulled out at 2am without telling anyone and left them to deal with the mess.
So maybe before you start calling other countries poorly run, have a look at your own backyard, you spray-tanned aluminium siding salesman. The only thing poorly run in this picture is your fucking mouth. Credit (borrowed from) Jim Scroggins - original author 📷 unknown”
This video is both heartbreaking and life-inspiring.
A film crew tries to film the destruction caused by US/Israeli bombing at an apartment complex in Iran. One of the tenants, an old man whose apartment has been almost completely shattered, insists on inviting the film crew in and offering them something to eat.
"We have only come to film, we don't want anything," the crew says.
But the old man insists on at least offering them oranges and apples.
Ultimately, those who come out victorious from conflicts are those who retain their dignity. Who never let war make them lose their humanity and self-respect.
Who, even in the worst of situations, insist on upholding sacred traditions and beliefs, including that of hospitality.
That's what makes a civilization indestructible.
Please remember this video and do your best to forget the videos of the lost souls dancing and cheering on the streets when their countrymen, women, and children were being killed by "democracy and freedom" bombs.
Nitin Gadkari ji says "A new AI-driven toll system will capture photos of number plates & deduct toll amount directly from bank accounts".
So why can’t we use same technology to capture photos of potholes & deduct salaries of govt employees?
Accountability can't be one sided!
Seven dogs stolen from their owners have gone viral after escaping from an illegal transport truck and making their way home.
They traveled around 17 km together, led by a corgi across highways and fields, now safely back with their respective owners..🐶🐾🥺❤️
The day we decide to severely prosecute authorities and contractors is the day this ends. And by severely prosecute, I don't mean fines which they'll make back in due course. Straight life imprisonment with no bail.
The Omanis are famously cautious. The Omani FM going on CBS to reveal what has actually been achieved in the negotiations is quite unprecedented. And what has been achieved is significant - Trump can indeed declare victory. Listen to this segment - it goes way beyond what Obama achieved.
But everything indicates that Trump won't take yes for an answer. That he will start a war of choice very soon.
Which is probably why the Omani FM decided to go public.
So that the American people knew that peace was within reach when Trump instead opted for war.
Perverse and twisted.
Maharashtra’s Forest department, meant to protect forests, is going to cut 6,000 CRORE WORTH OF TEAK WOOD and raise money to pay back a loan.
Why? Because an election sop is “draining the state’s coffers”.
Hunt down the contractors, hunt down the paper trails, find everyone who made money off this mess and straight conviction, no trial. It should be fairly easy to prosecute this.
But will it happen? Dream on. Mumbai road work is corrupt and lucrative. A bottomless gold mine.
One person was killed and three others injured after a portion of an under-construction elevated Metro bridge collapsed onto moving vehicles on LBS Road near the Johnson & Johnson premises in Mulund (West) on Saturday afternoon.
Just the most exhilarating game of T20 cricket, ever. Hats off to Afghanistan, who battled until the death. But I can think of many Proteas teams who would have choked multiple times in that sequence of overs. This one didn't. That says a lot about who they are. #SAVSAFG
