Africa has spoken with one voice at the 2025 UN Climate Change Conference (COP 30) in Belém, Brazil and the world has listened. Ethiopia extends its heartfelt gratitude to the African Group of Negotiators for their unanimous endorsement of Ethiopia’s bid to host COP 32 in Addis Ababa in 2027. We are grateful for the opportunity that the Conference of the Parties is giving us to spearhead the collective effort to tackle one of the most daunting challenges faced by humanity. We are honored to be entrusted by the global community with such an important responsibility. This recognition reflects confidence in Ethiopia’s leadership in climate action and its capacity to host major global events.
Ethiopia remains fully committed to delivering a robust and meaningful outcome and inclusive COP 32 that advances collective action against climate change. Building on the momentum of the Second Africa Climate Summit, Ethiopia will continue to champion Africa as a continent of solutions and a committed partner in the global effort for a sustainable future.
My beloved Bale is finally taking its true form — blossoming into the land it was always meant to be. Thank you, Prime Minister Abiy, @AbiyAhmedAli for your vision and leadership in bringing this transformation to life.
Day one in the Bale Zone has shown us the powerful nexus between natural wonders and development progress. The Bale Mountains National Park, with its remarkable diversity, continues to be one of the cornerstones of our tourism pillar. This potential will soon be strengthened by the completion of the Dinsho Lodge, located at the heart of the park. While nearby, the Sof Omer Luxury Lodge, now nearing completion, is designed to advance Ethiopia’s Ten-Year Strategic Plan by positioning tourism as a key driver of economic growth. The lodge will elevate visitors’ experiences at the Sof Omer Cave, offering premium accommodation and leisure facilities and is complemented by the Sof Omer Cave Development Project.
In the realm of road infrastructure, the Robe–Goro–Sof Omer–Ginir Junction Road Upgrading Project plays a vital role in linking the highly productive agricultural zones of East Bale and Bale with central Ethiopia. This connection not only improves accessibility and economic integration but also facilitates travel between major attractions such as the Sof Omer Cave and Bale Mountains National Park. Built to high standards with dual asphalt concrete layers, the project covers 29 kilometers of urban and rural roads and includes five bridges ranging from 12 to 140 meters in length.
We concluded the day with a review of the Weib River Flood Control Project, which aims to regulate water flow inside the Sof Omer Cave, ensuring year-round accessibility and safeguarding the cave’s ecosystem. Together, these initiatives reflect our unwavering commitment to sustainable development.
GERD-Courage lit the flame, resilience built the path, and tears of joy and triumph sealed the dream. This is Ethiopia, an African beacon of hope, the rising lion. Here we have the largest dam in the continent and more to come. Thank you @AbiyAhmedAli

The NRC has started the second round DDR process in three temporary demobilization centers in the Amhara region. In this round, more than 6,000 ex-combatants will be registered, supported through tailored rehabilitation trainings, the provision of national standard reinsertion packages, followed by coordinated reintegration processes in collaboration with federal and regional stakeholders and international partners. To date, over 74,000 ex-combatants across four regions have participated in the DDR program, taking significant steps toward rebuilding their civilian lives and contributing to the peace and stability of their communities.@UNDPEthiopia@SweinEthiopia@AUC_PAPS@GerEmbAddis@NorwayinAddis@UKinEthiopia@EUinEthiopia@KoreainEthiopia@ItalyinEthiopia@IndiaInEthiopia@GbaydeeDoe@USEmbassyAddis@JoshuaTabah@FranceinEth@Denmark_Addis@EmbSpainAddis
Congratulations to all Ethiopians on another milestone in our journey toward food security and agricultural transformation. Today, we signed the Fertilizer Complex Shareholder Investment Agreement between Ethiopian Investment Holdings and Dangote Group. With an investment of $2.5 billion, this mega project will produce up to 3 million metric tons of fertilizer annually, placing Ethiopia among the largest producers globally.
This project will create jobs locally, ensure a reliable fertilizer supply for our farmers who have long faced challenges, and mark a decisive step in our path to food sovereignty. It strengthens Ethiopia’s competitiveness across the continent and reflects our commitment to executing strategic investments that serve our people and our future.
Following today’s signing, we will officially launch the project on site. We have started this journey, and we will finish it for our farmers, for our economy, and for Ethiopia’s future.
