⚠️ Anthropic says it disrupted several cases this year in which scientists used its most advanced AI models for research that could potentially contribute to the development of biological weapons.
One case is particularly disturbing: In May, a scientist used Claude while preparing research involving gain-of-function experiments on the chikungunya virus, seeking mutations that would make the virus more harmful as it repeatedly infected live animals.
Anthropic says it determined that the work was intended to take place at a military research institute. The company could not establish that the research was actually intended to produce a biological weapon.
⚠️ But it found additional warning signs: researchers had circumvented restrictions on access from blocked regions and attempted to obfuscate the purpose of their work to evade safeguards.
Anthropic subsequently banned the associated accounts.
Biology wasn't the only area. The company says Claude was also used in attempts to develop software related to missiles, armed drones, bombs and firearms, documenting cases linked to China, Russia and Yemen.
It also identified suspected Chinese and Iranian government-linked operations targeting dissident and diaspora communities, as well as Russian state-media activity using Claude to generate propaganda masquerading as independent reporting.
The biological cases, however, may be the most consequential warning.
Anthropic says its older models were previously unable to provide meaningful assistance for dangerous biological research. Its current generation has become substantially more capable at complex scientific work.
The same capabilities that could accelerate vaccines and medical breakthroughs could also lower barriers to dangerous pathogen research.
The dual-use problem of advanced AI is beginning to move from theoretical evaluations into real-world threat detection.
Silver Deposit Ranking (for my investment objectives) - Not financial advice
Looking across all the companies I've analyzed, and focusing specifically on undeveloped of development stage silver deposits rather than current producing mines, there are several genuinely world-class projects.
Before getting into it, I want to make one important distinction first "largest" and "best" are not the same thing in this ranking. Some deposits have enormous silver inventories but are difficult to develop, while others have smaller resources but much better economics and a clearer path to production.
My overall ranking of the major development deposits
for my investment strategy which is silver leverage + quality + economics + development progress + reasonable probability of actually getting built, I would roughly rank them like this:
1. Panuco
Vizsla Silver
128 Moz Ag M&I; 222 Moz AgEq
2. Cordero
Discovery Silver
302 Moz Ag reserves
3. Corani
Highlander Silver
229 Moz Ag reserves / 323 Moz M&I
4. Silver Sand
New Pacific
157 Moz payable Ag
5. Diablillos
AbraSilver
183 Moz Ag reserves
6. Los Ricos
GoGold
109 Moz payable Ag between South/North studies
7. Tonopah West
Blackrock Silver
53 Moz Ag M&I+Inferred
8. Candelaria
Silver One
121 Moz Ag M&I
9. Cerro Bayo
Andean Silver
55 Moz Ag + gold; 136 Moz AgEq
10. Berenguela
Aftermath Silver
122.5 Moz Ag M&I
11. El Tigre
Silver Tiger
smaller Ag inventory, strong economics
12. San Diego
Silver Storm
115 Moz actual Ag resource *(see note after rankings)
13. Cerro Las Minitas
Southern Silver
large polymetallic Ag resource
14. Metates
Chesapeake Gold
542 Moz Ag M&I **(see notes below)
15. Hycroft
Hycroft Mining
563 Moz Ag M&I **(see notes below)
*San Diego's resource is old, and its AgEq inventory is substantially larger because of zinc/lead, so I would not treat those ounces as equivalent to a modern pure-silver reserve.
**See more extensive notes at the very bottom. Obviously these are huge deposits and a fast spike in Silver prices would provide massive leverage, like a call on the Silver price, but these both have significant hurdles and costs to get into production, thus, for investment horizon of 3-5 years which I am looking at, these are not as high as they otherwise would be if I was looking 20 years out. Obviously if Hycroft keeps finding more Silver, it will provide upward momentum, and it has a lot of pluses going for it with Sprott's backing, the AMC meme crowd loving it, etc, so I do have a fairly large position (for me) in Hycroft.
The five that really stand out to me
🥇 1. Panuco — Vizsla
This is probably the best overall development project I’ve looked at, in my opinion, even though it isn't the largest by pure silver ounces.
The current resource is 222.4 Moz AgEq M&I, including about 127.8 Moz actual silver, at an extraordinary 307 g/t silver average.
And the economics are exceptional:
17.4M AgEq/year
Approximately 20.1M AgEq/year first five years
$1.8B after-tax NPV
111% IRR
9.4-year initial mine life
First silver targeted in H2 2027
Well funded
No debt
Test mine already advanced
Vizsla says it has more than $94M cash currently, while its year-end position was over $450M after its project financing.
This is the one I'd call the best combination of grade, economics, silver leverage and development progress.
🥈 2. Cordero — Discovery Silver
If we're talking about sheer silver scale, Cordero is one of the monsters.
It has 302M ounces of silver Proven & Probable reserves. That's one of the largest undeveloped silver reserves in the world.
And it's not just a giant resource sitting on a shelf:
19-year mine life
~37M AgEq/year in years 1–12
AISC below $12.50/AgEq in first eight years
$606M initial capex
$1.2B base-case after-tax NPV
22% IRR
Discovery's current materials also show a 14M oz/year silver production rate in the early Cordero years.
The weakness is that Cordero is a huge open-pit development requiring substantial capital and permitting. But on pure silver scale + economics, it belongs near the very top.
🥉 3. Corani — Highlander
This company has moved way up my list recently which is not reflected in the size of my holdings, but will be adjusted in the next couple of days, after I looked more closely at this.
Corani has:
229M oz Proven & Probable silver reserves
323M oz M&I silver
84M oz inferred
~9.6M oz/year silver production in the old FS
15-year mine life
Historical AISC of only $4.55/oz silver
And perhaps most importantly, Corani is fully permitted.
That is a huge advantage.
The economics are based on a 2019 study, so we need the updated feasibility work before treating those numbers as current. But the underlying deposit is enormous.
And now you have Corani + Mercedes producing + around $100M cash & no debt. That's an unusually strong corporate setup.
4. Silver Sand — New Pacific
This is probably the best pure-silver large-scale project in the group.
The PFS calls for:
157M payable silver ounces
15M oz/year in the first three years
12M oz/year LOM
13-year mine life
$10.69/oz AISC
$358M initial capex
$740M after-tax NPV
37% IRR
That's outstanding. But the problem is obvious: Bolivia.
The deposit itself deserves to be top 3–5. The company deserves a discount because of jurisdiction/permitting.
So for the deposit, I'd put Silver Sand extremely high. For the stock, I'd put New Pacific lower, but I will say it has done well and seems to often be one of my better performers.
5. Diablillos — AbraSilver
This is another monster-quality project. The new DFS now has 183M oz silver Proven & Probable reserves + 1.8M oz gold. The company expects:
14M oz silver/year during the first five years
First production before year-end 2029
$722M initial capex
42% IRR
CAD$4.2B after-tax NPV
The project itself is excellent.
The reason I don't rank the stock as highly as the deposit is because the market already recognizes how good Diablillos is.
The next group is very interesting too
6. Los Ricos — GoGold
This is an interesting one because it's really two projects.
Los Ricos South
Already:
Fully permitted
Construction decision made
Construction underway
41.1M payable silver
423.6koz payable gold
79.9M AgEq
$227M initial capex
$355M after-tax NPV
28% IRR
15-year mine life
Los Ricos North
Much larger:
68M payable silver
110.3M AgEq
13-year mine life
8.8M AgEq/year
$413M NPV
29% IRR
So the district has roughly 109M payable silver ounces across the two economic studies.
And unlike many of the deposits here, South is actually being built now.
7. Tonopah West — Blackrock
This is probably the best smaller pure-silver development project I’ve looked at
Current resource:
19.17M oz Ag M&I
33.56M oz Ag inferred
40.16M AgEq M&I
82.94M AgEq inferred
The 2026 PEA is excellent:
7.1M AgEq/year
36.4M payable silver over life
$17.44 AgEq AISC
$190M initial capex
28% IRR
$437M NPV
And at the much higher current metal-price assumptions, the PEA's NPV jumps to $1.55B.
Being in Nevada, on private land with relatively low capex is a very attractive combination.
8. Candelaria — Silver One
This one has become much more interesting after the recent resource update. Candelaria now has 120.7M oz actual silver M&I plus 242koz gold. The leach pads alone contain approximately 47.5M actual silver ounces M&I.
Other pluses:
Nevada
Existing infrastructure
Historical mining
Large resource
PFS underway
Strong balance sheet
The big question is metallurgical recovery and economics. That's why I wouldn't rank it alongside Cordero or Panuco yet. But if the PFS demonstrates an attractive low-capex production pathway, Silver One could move dramatically higher.
9. Cerro Bayo — Andean Silver
Current resource:
136M AgEq including:
92M AgEq underground
44M AgEq open pit
And it's a past-producing mine, not a greenfield project.
It produced:
45M oz silver and approximately 650koz gold over more than 15 years. There is existing processing infrastructure and Chilean jurisdiction. That's attractive.
The problem is that the 136M AgEq figure contains a lot of gold, so I wouldn't call it a 136M-ounce silver deposit.
But the combination of existing mine and infrastructure, high-grade underground resource and Chile makes this considerably better than a typical early-stage developer.
10. Berenguela — Aftermath
122.5M oz silver M&I
plus:
717M lb copper
2.93M tonnes manganese
22M oz silver inferred
And it's now formally in PFS development, with DRA Global leading the study. The reason it isn't higher is that it isn't a pure silver project. Copper and manganese could be economically very important. But if you're bullish on silver and industrial metals, Berenguela is potentially very interesting.
Then there are two "huge but different" deposits
Metates — Chesapeake
This is enormous:
542M oz silver M&I
plus:
19.8M oz gold M&I.
On sheer contained silver, it is actually larger than Cordero or Corani.
But I would not rank it above them. Why?
Because Metates is fundamentally a massive gold-silver development project with enormous technical complexity, not a straightforward silver mine.
The processing technology is still the critical issue.
So, huge deposit? Absolutely. Best silver development? No.
Hycroft
Hycroft is another monster from a resource perspective.
It has roughly 563M oz silver M&I, alongside a very large gold resource. But again, it is fundamentally a gold/silver bulk-tonnage redevelopment project, and capital requirements and processing/development risk are enormous.
So I wouldn't compare its silver ounces directly with Panuco or Silver Sand, but I am still a Hycroft fan as I have mentioned multiple times before.
And one more that deserves attention: El Tigre
Silver Tiger's El Tigre is much smaller in silver ounces than the giants above, but it has something they don't necessarily have: exceptional economics for its size.
The updated PFS has:
$456M after-tax NPV
65.7% IRR
1.4-year payback
$86.8M initial capex
$14.50 AgEq AISC
The PFS produces about 9M payable silver ounces, plus substantial gold. And construction is actually underway in 2026. So I would rank El Tigre higher on quality of development economics than its resource size would suggest.
The really interesting takeaway
If I separate "biggest silver deposits" from "best investments", I get two very different lists.
Biggest silver inventories we've discussed
Metates — 542M oz Ag M&I
Hycroft — ~563M oz Ag M&I
Cordero — 302M oz Ag reserves
Corani — 323M oz Ag M&I / 229M reserves
Diablillos — 183M oz Ag reserves
Silver Sand — 157M payable Ag
Berenguela — 122.5M oz Ag M&I
Candelaria — 120.7M oz Ag M&I
Panuco — ~128M oz Ag M&I
Los Ricos — ~109M payable Ag across South + North
So in conclusion, I would not invest in that order. The best development projects for my strategy, as mentioned above, I'd currently put the leaders roughly:
1. Panuco
2. Cordero
3. Corani
4. Silver Sand
5. Diablillos
6. Los Ricos
7. Tonopah West
8. Candelaria
9. Cerro Bayo
10. Berenguela / El Tigre
And there is a very important distinction in there:
Panuco isn't the biggest. It's probably the best.
Metates/Hycroft are enormous. They're not necessarily the best.
Tonopah West isn't enormous. It's potentially one of the best risk/reward projects.
Candelaria isn't as economically defined yet. But the combination of 121M oz silver, Nevada, existing infrastructure and astrong balance sheet is very attractive.
Corani is perhaps the most interesting of all because of the combination of 229M reserve ounces, full permitting, enormous scale, existing feasibility work and now a company with a producing mine and around $100M cash behind it.
Let me know if you know of any mistakes I have (not in my rankings, since it is my opinion, based on what I am looking for, but in the #s and info I included with the descriptions).
So in 24 hours, Ansar Allah aka The Houthis have seized 2 cities, an Island, killed or captured thousands of soldiers, taken possession of 1000’s of US tanks and weapons, freed all former Houthis prisoners, and were greeted as liberators.
THANK YOU, MR TRUMP FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. WITHOUT YOU STARTING THE IRAN WAR THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED.
Now, Iran and Yemeni Ansar Allah are the two most powerful countries in the region. Furthermore, Iran has become a global Superpower. Together they control the shipping lanes of 30% of Global Energy Supply, forever. Saudi can no longer export any oil unless they get permission from The Houthis.
And if they don’t make a deal soon they won’t have the ability to produce any oil because the Houthis can destroy their pipelines, ports, tanker ships, oil wells, refineries, and oil stabilization facilities in only a couple of days. And nobody can stop them.
Then we are talking about a global catastrophe with widespread famine, civil wars, and a global depression.
This footage from Al Jazeera shows some of the equipment that was left behind for the Yemeni to capture in Mokha. If they wanted, they can use all this new equipment to invade Saudi Arabia. 🤯
@RockBtmEntries@PolyluminaMed with a possible oil shock coming and all the printing, do you think miners will be in a bad spot with diesel, energy costs, and the dollar being devalued? Starting to consider selling miners and going straight PMs

@chase_fkc@Coreyshermanjr5@LLThecrusader "woke morality" Apparently being against beating woman and children is a political position. Do you beat your wife and kids? Do you think hitting children in the face is a good idea? Or that your wife is fair game to beat? A growing brain being hit in the head ends up like you
@Coreyshermanjr5@LLThecrusader Who needs to raise their kids properly when you can just beat them and call it parenting? They won't respect you, just fear your lack of impulse control. You're a shitty human being and a worse parent
@jakesilly24@omoelerinjare1 Call em what you want, but a certain demographic has authority issues. constant violent crime, ending up in prison, low impulse control, abandoning their kids. They ignore laws, there's a real pattern here.
This is okay right? Or is it only okay to be racist against white people?

@TheApeOfGoldST@Trendstockers Genuinely curious what you think of the possible issues faced when separating the different metals to make it economical? Much harder than a simple extraction, own a lot of the same projects you do but this part made me unsure about it
This just gets crazier by the second. @Meta and @finkd need to address this ASAP. This is the flock-fueled future everyone is afraid of and corporations keep telling everyone it's fine. Prove it.
