In my view, the global economy is undergoing a fundamental transformation. The system as we know it is changing rapidly, and we are entering a completely new era. There will certainly be uncertainty along the way. At the same time, AI and exponential technological progress are driving productivity to levels where many goods and services could become dramatically cheaper, or even close to free.
That is why I believe the years ahead cannot be evaluated through the lens of the past. The global AI race is unlikely to slow down because no country or company can afford to fall behind. At the same time, entirely new industries, business models and opportunities are emerging. In the long run, we may indeed move toward the abundance that often talks about.
The thought that keeps me reflecting is this: perhaps we are not witnessing the decline of the old system, but the birth of a completely new one. Those who measure the future with yesterday's metrics may completely miss the scale of the transformation already underway.
