Team work colouring our graphic novel: John is flatting in Clip Studio Paint, then we export files to Photoshop, convert them to CMYK (with no K in the colour mix except for the line art), before I colour and shade.
Just popping on here to share big news! We’re SO thrilled to announce we’ve signed a 2 book deal with @scholasticuk for a MG fantasy graphic novel series! Part of their new imprint Graphix, Wilomina will publish in 2026 and 2027. Massive thanks to our agent @MollyJamieson !
.@scholasticuk has swooped for a “whimsical” middle-grade graphic novel series by the Franco-Scottish duo John Chalmers and Sandra Marrs, known collectively as Metaphrog 👇 https://t.co/50EAUmRqgJ
Big news! Our next graphic novel will be with Scholastic UK. They’re bringing the brillant Graphix imprint to the UK. We’ll be part of it with our new book, which will also be lead title at Bologna Book Fair! More on this soon!
Graphix is our favourite imprint! We’re so thrilled!
A massive thank you to Sandra and John @metaphrog for their session on Comic writing with our S2 pupils and for being a part of our first P7 Transition event. Looking forward to all the comic writing next week.
This is very sad. Wondering how much of this has been exacerbated by the pandemic, with kids not being in school and taking the habit of using screens a lot more at a critical point in their life. Thankfully comics are here ti help: more and more kids are reading them.
This is awful news. If I might suggest from the comics side of things, however, you do see that when you show children how to create their own comics, and they then ✨realise all the stories of their own that they can tell✨ it really empowers them and ignites a thirst for more.
If you're around Edinburgh, we're doing a (free) comic workshop for 16+ at @natlibscot, sharing lots of tips for making your own comics. That's Friday 15th November at 2.30pm - looking forward to it!
