112 co-sponsors of Medicare for All were on the ballot. All of them won.
98 co-sponsors of the Green New Deal were on the ballot. Only 1 lost.
Supporting Medicare for All and the Green New Deal is not just good public policy.
It is also good politics.
.@AOC tells @jaketapper that "not a single member of Congress that I'm aware of campaigned on socialism or defunding the police in this general election."
She says Dems' problem is a weak party operation that needs to become "stronger and more resilient to Republican attacks."
"Progressives have assets to offer the Party that the Party has not yet fully leaned into...Every single swing seat member that co-sponsored Medicare for All won their re-election, and so the conversation is a little bit deeper than saying anything progressive is toxic." -
@AOC
Progressive get attacked by other Dems.
Everyone: silent
Progressives defend themselves and their democratic base.
Everyone: stop being divisive
Maybe people should stop attacking progressives and work on unity instead of projecting.
One thing I’ll say: for the last two years, I and progressive candidates have been unseating powerful Dem incumbents supported by DCCC.
Not *once* has anyone in the party asked me what weaknesses I’ve found in their operation.
If they stop blaming progressives, we can help.
America, I’m honored that you have chosen me to lead our great country.
The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not.
I will keep the faith that you have placed in me.
even after his disastrous covid mishandling, trump has gotten more votes than Obama did in 2008. if you think the republican party wasn't ALWAYS the trump party and vice versa you need to stop watching msnbc.
