@TrueMetsTalkCP Facts, I can’t get over people saying Tong is untouchable and wouldn’t trade him for Ryan. If Jonah Tong had the success of Joe Ryan we would all be very happy so why not just turn him into actual Joe Ryan?
@GiraffeNeckMarc I can’t agree with everyone saying Tong is untouchable. I think if Tong eventually became as good as Joe Ryan we’d be very happy, so why not just make him Joe Ryan? I feel like the rate of prospects hitting is way lower than people think
A story like this is another reason why fans need to understand why the Mets wanted Marcus Semien. A pro’s pro, a champ, a leader.
“He only hit .230” is a lazy take. The Mets need presences in the clubhouse. They had that in 2024 with multiple guys. They didn’t have it in 2025.
The Mets fan reaction to the Semien for Nimmo trade has revolved around Semien’s poor offense. It shouldn’t. This move was for improved defense, less $ on the books from 2029 on, and roster flexibility. Nimmo’s defense has taken a huge step back. This is a good move for the Mets.
If you think the Mets trade this trade solely because of Marcus Semien, you’re missing the point.
This is WAY more about what options this opens up for the Mets on their roster than just replacing Nimmo with Semien.
@jamesduffett1@michaelgbaron Related to position, Semien is just as good of a hitting second baseman as Nimmo is for a corner out fielder and Semien is an elite defender and Nimmo takes awful paths to the ball and has a noodle arm. RUN PREVENTION
