This Turkish Super Cup final game was supposed to be played in August 2023. The Turkish Football Federation (TFF) made an interesting and unexplainable move when they postponed the final game many claim because Galatasaray team was not ready then and the team’s goal scorer Icardi was not back in the team. This was the first act of injustice against Fenerbahçe by the TFF.
What happened next? The TFF decided that the final will be played in Saudi Arabia in late December.
Both teams arrived in Saudi, but another scandal broke out. Fener and Gala haven’t showed up to the game in the stadium due to the procedural disagreements between the teams and the Saudis.
It became a national blow and both teams came back to Turkey the same night.

After around a month, the TFF finally set a new date for the game and it was April 7. Playing in Europa League and UEFA Conference League, Gala and Fener were both sceptical of this new date as they might have played their first leg of the quarter final in Europe on April 11. However, Gala got surprisingly eliminated by Sparta Prag and was unable proceed to the QF, as Fenerbahçe got qualified and its game schedule got tighter than Galatasaray in April. There was already a huge level of distrust against the TFF from Fenerbahçe side as there has been some major referee mistakes in favor of Gala this year that gave big advantage to them in the league race, and Fenerbahçe side kept criticizing the TFF of being pro-Gala in many cases.

In mid-March, another scandal broke out and Fenerbahçe players were attacked by Trabzonspor fans in a league game. The referee H.U.Meler must have stopped the game and leave the pitch when the Fener players were targeted by unknown objects thrown by the Trabzon fans, but he continued the game regardless. At the end of the game, the fans stormed the pitch and attacked the Fener players. This made it to the international headlines, and Fenerbahçe admin even considered withdrawing the team from the league due to all the injustice that has kept happening in the last 10 years. It is important to remember that in 2015, Fenerbahçe’s bus driver was shot by an unknown person in Trabzon while the bus was on the move and Fener players were inside the bus returning from Trabzonspor game.
Fenerbahçe is the leader of the last 5 and 10 years by points earned and goals scored in the league but never won the title in that period. This is another reason why Fener side don’t trust the TFF as there is a bias within TFF in favor of Gala and some referees have kept doing major mistakes (!) that costed Fenerbahçe many trophies.

As for Today’s game, Fenerbahçe protested both TFF and Gala for some of the above-mentioned reasons, plus they did not agree to postpone the game given Fenerbahçe’s tight schedule. It needs to be remembered that this game was supposed to be played in August 2023, and already postponed twice.
Fenerbahçe brought their young team (U19) to the final and they left the pitch in protest of the TFF and Gala. It was already the plan before the game, and the players executed it by leaving the pitch.

It is strange how Galatasaray players celebrated the goal knowing all this stuff lol.
