FROM ATENEO TO LA SALLE
JUST IN: Ateneo de Davao head coach Jess Evangelio has announced that four players, Macky Peligrino, Matt Cayetano, JM Sanoria, and Rhysus Bajentin, have decommitted from the Ateneo de Manila high school program to transfer to La Salle Zobel for UAAP juniors basketball.
The move came in the aftermath of the tragic drowning of their Ateneo de Davao teammate Rene Baterbonia during the team building in Dipaculao, Aurora on June 8, 2026. | via John Bryan Ulanday
tangina every single time i open apps i see rene baterbonia and it hurts cause you really cant help but mourn a kid with so much potential and every story people share about him only reminds you of how much goodness and potential was lost. admu is NEVER getting away from this.
Watching the livestream mass of hope and sending forth for Rene Baterbonia:
“Bet, kung hindi ka inalagaan sa Maynila, dito patuloy ka naming aalagaan at aalagaan namin ang iyong pamilya…” 😭🕊️
Thanks, AdDU. 💙🙏🦅
As the eldest sibling, I don’t think I could ever handle seeing my younger sibling in a casket. Seeing Rene’s brother, I can only admire the strength it takes to carry that kind of pain. Stay strong kuya🙏🏻

"The mother, as I'm telling you now, the mother is seriously in pain. Seriously in pain. She has been crying since that Monday until today. Until this, now I'm speaking with you, she is crying.
I still find looking for answers for the reason why there was no life jacket, the reason why they could not ask the players, the team if they know how to swim or not. Because I believe they are supposed to read the weather before they can move to the sea.
So, those things are the things troubling my heart and the feeling of my family. We are highly devastated. So, now that he's gone, I don't know where I will start again."

Despite being in danger himself, he still tried to save his teammate, Rene Baterbonia. That act of courage, selflessness, and brotherhood speaks volumes about the kind of person he was. Their bond went far beyond basketball, and their bravery will never be forgotten.
Rest in peace to both young athletes.
Salute to Divine Adili man, a true brother, teammate, and hero. 🙏🏼 🤍 🕊️
SARANGANI NEEDS HELP!!
Some remote areas were not given enough media attention po and they really need help. Among those areas are Glan, Malapatan, Balut Island, and many remote areas in Sarangani Province. Wala pa raw po silang tubig, kuryente, signal and unpassable po ang roads

Our fellow Filipinos in Mindanao urgently need our help.
In the wake of the devastating 𝗠𝗮𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝟳.𝟴 𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗸𝗲 that struck 𝗦𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶, 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗼𝘀 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗻𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀, thousands of families have been displaced. Homes and livelihoods have been lost, while many communities continue to face shortages of electricity, clean water, food, and safe shelter.
Now, more than ever, we are called to embody the true spirit of 𝘽𝙖𝙮𝙖𝙣𝙞𝙝𝙖𝙣. Together, we can bring hope and relief to those affected by this disaster. No donation is too small. Every act of generosity brings us one step closer to helping Mindanao rise again.
