The NUG calls on ASEAN to establish concrete, time-bound mechanisms to end airstrikes and violence against civilians, ensure accountability, and support inclusive political dialogue involving the NUG and Ethnic Revolutionary Organizations (EROs) toward federal democratic Myanmar.

Any election organized by the military junta amid conflict, without inclusive political environment, lacks democratic legitimacy.
Is it permissible to whitewash war crimes under the guise of a rigged election? Such actions are a blatant violation of the constitution and an assault on the fundamental principle of civilian government established through free and fair elections.

18 Apr 2026 - The NUG welcomes the release of President Win Myint, a key step driven by people’s resistance and sustained international pressure. All political prisoners, including Aung San Suu Kyi, must be released. We remain committed to justice and a Federal Democratic Union.
The Steering Council for the Emergence of a Federal Democratic Union (SCEF) is formally established today, 30 March 2026.
Built on three pillars—States & EROs, the people, and women—SCEF will lead efforts to end dictatorship and build a federal democratic future in #Myanmar.
The NUG also expresses its appreciation to Timor-Leste and all partners advancing accountability, and calls on the international community to further strengthen efforts toward justice for victims and an end to impunity in Myanmar.

Appointment of Counselor to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
To strengthen and enhance the effectiveness of the Ministry’s operations, the NUG Ministry of Foreign Affairs has appointed U Moe Zaw Oo as Counselor, effective upon assumption of his duties.
The junta’s capacity to commit these crimes is enabled by continued foreign military and financial support, particularly from the Russian Federation, as well as diplomatic protection and inaction by influential powers.
Such support entails responsibility under international law.

The NUG appreciates Australia’s support for human rights and democracy.
