The launch of the first degree programme at the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management (SLITHM) marks an important milestone in advancing tourism education in Sri Lanka.

The four-year Bachelor of Hotel and Resort Management (Honours) degree will equip graduates with the knowledge, practical experience and skills needed to meet international industry standards.

As we work towards attracting 4 million tourists and generating USD 8 billion in tourism revenue by 2030, we are committed to expanding training opportunities across all districts and developing SLITHM into an internationally recognised institution. Our people and their renowned hospitality remain central to Sri Lanka’s tourism success.

Today, the people of Brazil did not just win an election; they defeated the forces of corruption, division and political lies.

Comrade @LulaOficial’s historic victory in Brazil shows that the people cannot be fooled by bankrupt political dynasties and the ghosts of the past who believe might is greater than right.

Many congratulations, companheiro, for leading the march of progress yet again!

As we mark 81 years of the @UN, I reiterate #SriLanka’s firm commitment to multilateralism, the UN Charter and the peaceful resolution of disputes.

A responsible member of the UN since 1955, Sri Lanka calls for a stronger, more inclusive United Nations where every member state has a voice, the aspirations of developing countries are respected, and #SustainableDevelopment and #CimateAction remain central priorities. We must continue to foster dialogue, solidarity and international cooperation.

Together, let us advance peace, dignity, prosperity and development for all.
