"Oscar said, 'I take that to mean the ability to play gracefully with ideas.' I think that's disappearing from our culture." - Stephen Fry at @munkdebate
The Greek word "logos" was first used by Heraclitus and most famously used in the prologue to St John's Gospel. Aristotle, however, uses it to mean "reasoned discourse." Reasoned discourse: Where can it to be found today? #reason#discourse#discussion https://t.co/wAtwLb8udW

I started some planning for the new year, and then saw today's Daily Office reading: "You who say, ‘Tomorrow we will go to such and such...doing business and making money.’ Yet you do not even know what tomorrow will bring..." Ha! Good point. I can chill a bit. #NewYear2026#BCP
"To the saints and faithful brothers in Christ" (Col 1:2a). Paul uses ἁγίοις (saints), a word for sacred objects in Greek religion, to describe people. Does Christianity relocate the sacred from objects to persons? What might this imply? #Colossians#BiblicalGreek#humandignity
Are "conservationism" and "sustainability" the same thing? Close cousins? One term used by traditionalists and the other by progressives? Middle ground here?
@bsb1945 I just saw the musical last weekend - and it brought up all the memories of seeing Back to the Future when was in Jr High school. I love seeing the story keep on in new forms, where people who didn't grown up seeing it, still experience the past coming forward.
“…poetry replaces grammar, gospel replaces law, longing transforms obedience, as gradually as the tide lifts a grounded ship.”

Why did they give me so many textbooks in school? Was that an education? What went wrong?

Insiders create the narrative. Outsiders can't. They aren't heard. You won't get the truth until you talk to those who are excluded.
Missing truths lie outside.

The question, then, is how do you get a classical education? Well, that's easier now than ever, and open to just about anyone anywhere. More on this later - but this is the time to carve your path. #education#classics
People often think it's too late to get a classical education. However, not only is that not true, but getting a classical education later in life, after school/college, is delightful. Why? No grades, tests, exams, GPAs, SATs, or pressure from parents. Just because you want it.

Do you say the Daily Office (Anglican/Episcopal)? Online or with the Book of Common Prayer in hand? What apps are best?
