The @ManhyiaPalace presents a significant challenge to the enforcement of the rule of law in Ghana. The Huahi Achama Tutuwaa Royal Family of Benimasi-Boadi-Goaso, the allodial owners of Benimasi-Boadi lands in the Oforikrom municipality, have a well-documented and historical claim within the annals of the Ashanti Kingdom. The boundaries of these family lands have been affirmed by a court of competent jurisdiction in Kumasi, confirming our allodial ownership.

Unlike most subservient stools, our indigenous community follows customs and traditions that do not require a caretaker chief to swear allegiance to the Golden Stool, as our lineage traces back to Oheneyere Tutuwaa, the consort of the Ashanti kingdom's founder, and our genealogical descent from the illustrious King Osei Tutu exhibited in the family tree chart. Section 2 of Ghana’s Land Act 2020 (Act 1036) codifies our land ownership rights, affirming the acquisition of allodial title through absolute customary gift. However, the Manhyia Palace has recently continue to incited division, violence, and disruption within our community, holding some gullible members hostage to further their hidden agenda. Our pending legal suit H1/22/2023 in the Appeal Court of justice clearly reveals the Manhyia Palace's attempt to install a puppet in our family's land administration, exposing their modus operandi.

The @ManhyiaPalace has exploited the ignorance of some principal members to continuously disparage our community, incite fear, and causing widespread panic. They have made outrageous claims that the #Otumfuo has revoked our heritage and inalienable rights to our ancestral lands, creating distress and disunity among us. If the Manhyia Palace truly respects customs and traditions, they would not desecrate the legacy of King Osei Tutu. This is a big shame to the Asanteman. I am the voice of Benimasi-Boadi, a village nestled near Kumasi, Ghana. As a seventh-generation descendant of King Osei Tutu, the founder of the Ashanti Empire of the ancient Gold Coast (present-day Ghana), my heritage is deeply rooted in the rich cultural legacy of my ancestors.

My life was once a harmonious rhythm with the earth, until it was shattered by the relentless march of oppression. As a fierce protector of my ancestral lands, I faced persecution and torture that forced me to flee my beloved homeland to save my life. On March 15, 2023, the United States extended a lifeline by granting me humanitarian parole under the auspices of the United Nations Convention against Torture. I am eternally grateful for this sanctuary.

In response to the threats against our heritage, I founded Land Rights Defenders Inc., an organization dedicated to protecting the rich cultural heritage, birthright, and ancestral lands of natives in Ghana and beyond. It's incredibly sad that the police, who are supposed to protect citizens, are instead involved in abductions and have effectively become “magistrates and adjudicators”. Ironically, when I first petitioned the Police Professional Standards Bureau, they invited Eric Opoku to Accra, and a COP Tiwaa called Rev. the then-head of the PIPS office at Asylum Down, telling him that they were 'her boys' and that she would have to bear their transportation costs if they were to appear for a misconduct review. Ultimately, they were exempted from any reprimand, even though I won a human rights judgment. I petitioned the @UN @USEmbassyGhana and BNI currently National Intelligence Bureau.

The @GhPoliceService is one of the most corrupt institutions in #Ghana. After enduring six days of agonizing torture while in their custody, in violation of constitutional provisions, I was granted bail by the circuit court and subsequently took them to the human rights court. I won a judgment against them in Suit No. HR/0026/2022, presided over by Justice Barbara Tetteh Charway.

At my worst, I was criminalized and persecuted until I was forced to flee my homeland and seek refuge here in the United States. Despite this, the perpetrators, Eric Opoku (ASP) and his associates, were promoted simply because they were backed by the Asantehene and incited by him. When I was first arrested without any legal basis, solely for enforcing my economic and cultural rights, I overheard a conversation between Eric Opoku and a supposed chief from Manhyia Palace. Opoku told the chief, 'They've arrested the gentleman who claims to know the law’

In another incident during the same period, the Kumasi police force arrested Odeneho Kwabena Badu, our family head,and tortured him within the walls of the Manhyia Palace, in the presence of the Asantehene, without any charges. After we took them to the human rights court in Suit No. HR/0035/2023, the police brazenly justified their 'abduction' by claiming that Odeneho had failed to honor an invitation from the Asantehene for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). However, Boadi lands are family lands that do not fall under the jurisdiction of the Asantehene. According to Ghanaian law, the police's conduct was unconstitutional and in violation of the Chieftancy Act.

All of these incidents occurred because we sought to enforce the allodial title possessed by the Huahi Tutuwaa Royal Family over Boadi Lands, pursuant to Section 2 of the Land Act 2020 (Act 1036). The case studies of Benimasi-Boadi (the Akan word 'Benimasi' means 'come and learn our roots') are well-known. These lands were gifted generations ago by Osei Tutu to his wife, Yaa Tutuwaa. The current Asantehene, Barima Kwaku Duah, is threatened by our family history, which is supported by a historical family tree chart prepared under the supervision of Otumfuo Opoku Ware II two years before his death. As the proverb says, “Nothing is hidden under the sun” as above👆🏿 so below 👇🏿 a fundamental axiom of truth!
