As part of her official engagements in Islamabad, the Minister of Family and Human Rights Development, H.E. Amb. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, met with Ms. Noureen Bano Lehri, Chairperson of the National Commission on the Status of Women of Pakistan, to discuss advancing women's empowerment and strengthening institutional cooperation.
The meeting focused on the progress of women in both countries and explored opportunities to deepen collaboration between Somalia and Pakistan through the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and institutional experience in promoting gender equality, women's leadership, and inclusive social development.

The Ministers discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in women's empowerment, child protection, social welfare, and institutional capacity-building, while exploring opportunities to exchange expertise and strengthen collaboration between the two Ministries for the mutual benefit of Somalia and Türkiye.
The Minister of Family and Human Rights Development, H.E. Khadija Mohamed Al-Makhzoumi, met with Ms. Rabiya Javeri Agha, Chairperson of the National Commission for Human Rights of Pakistan, in Islamabad to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation on human rights and institutional development.
The meeting focused on Pakistan’s experience in attaining “A” Status accreditation under the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI), as well as opportunities to support Somalia’s Independent National Human Rights Commission through technical cooperation, capacity-building, and the exchange of expertise.
The Director General of the Ministry of Family and Human Rights Development, Mr. Mohamed Bashir Omar, chaired the Ministry's weekly Directors' meeting to review performance, strengthen coordination, and accelerate the implementation of priority plans for the coming quarter.
The meeting also emphasized fast-tracking the National Child Protection Awareness Strategy to strengthen public awareness and promote the protection of children's rights across Somalia.

Somalia today presented its national statement before the 52nd Session of the Universal Periodic Review Working Group in Geneva, highlighting progress made in advancing human rights, institutional reforms, and international commitments.
The review, attended by 108 Member States, saw 104 countries commend Somalia’s significant achievements. The session follows Somalia’s landmark cooperation agreement with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights to strengthen technical cooperation and human rights implementation.
