On 4/23/03 The White Stripes played Jolene by Dolly Parton on their second week long night on “Late Night with Conan O’Brien”. It was the first time I heard Jolene. My mother told me it was a song by Dolly. My maternal grandmother found her record with it and played it for me. Months later in November. I stood front stage center to the last show of the Elephant tour. And they played Jolene. Moment Jack White played it I heard a woman shout “It’s Jolene!”. Thank you for writing that song Dolly. So many memories attached to it. I’m sure going to miss you! Rest in peace. 💔😢❤️🤍🖤🎸🥁

On this day in 1973, filming began on episode No. 106 of The Brady Bunch, titled “The Cincinnati Kids,” at Kings Island. The cast and crew spent five days, August 20-24, capturing scenes throughout the park during its second year of operation. The episode remains one of the most-watched and beloved of the entire series, which aired for five seasons from 1969 to 1974 and has been in syndication for the past 52 years.

Barry Williams, reflecting on filming the episode at Kings Island in 1973, shared with me, “It was one of the most exciting times in our filming history because we got to step outside the soundstage at Paramount Studios and explore Cincinnati. It’s a fun episode with not much of a plot — Jan loses the plans, and the rest of the episode follows everyone searching throughout the park, creating a lasting connection between the Bradys and Kings Island that has resonated across multiple generations.”

I love revisiting this episode—it instantly takes me back to Kings Island’s early days, especially as the Brady kids race through the park searching for the poster tube with Mike Brady’s lost drawings. Have you seen it? If so, what’s your favorite scene?
