The cold-blooded murder of the two teens, a girl and a boy, who went missing since the first week of July, is deeply hurtful and makes me angry while still being aware of the other tragic events.

But to me, this tragedy does not merely speak of the unprecedented violence that has befallen Manipur. It primarily tells me of the culpability of the Indian State, and bankruptcy of leadership.

And secondarily, it also comes as a reminder of two things: First, the pathetic and pretentious 'liberal' and 'feminist' posturings of those busy bodies who had done enough to fuel the conflict by their self-seeking and partisan postures.Their hands are stained with the bloods of not only these two teens but also other victims of this tragedy. Unlike some who seem to be longing for their voice, their recent silence does not surprise me at all and I am least concerned about their 'voice'.

Second, the silence punctuated by condemnable whataboutery of some of the Kuki elites on heinous crimes committed on the Meiteis. Sad as it is, to think of it, how often have you heard Kuki elites - politicians, academics, pastors etc - asking for the violence to end since the very beginning?

Whatever be the case, genuine peace must return in the state, sooner than later.

You may have tremendous contribution in sports and cultural life of the country or in defence services with three stars generals and decorated officers, including those who had commanded 'surgical' operations or sacrificed fighting Al-Qaeda in foreign soil...

Manipuri dance may be celebrated as one of the classical dances of this country or UNESCO may honoured your music, you may have globally known cultural icons like Ratan Thiyam and Aribam Shyam or numerous sports heroes who have made the tri colour fly with pride in numerous international arenas...to think of it, even legendary music composer S.D. Burman who was born of a Meitei woman...this is besides medical specialists in leading hospitals and other professionals in the country...

But what all these contributions mean to the Indian State ultimately?

Letting you burn for four months...and nurturing people who seek to destroy the state, politically and socially?
