The explicit privacy provision of the S. C. Constitution was affirmed in a 1971 vote. This was a year AFTER Roe v. Wade was filed in federal court, asserting that abortion bans are an unconstitutional violation of a right of privacy. Folks in SC knew what they were voting for.
