hi all, I'm mgn! recently found out I'm autistic with a bunch of sensory processing disorders, and possibly more going on than that. I'm new to discourse on neurodiversity and disability, so I will be in the dark about a lot of things and probably screw up a fair bit.
Huge perk of my specific genre of autism is that because my every social behavior is done manually in my conscious mind rather than intuitively like a neurotypical, I can easily describe things people usually don’t put into words because they don’t consciously think about them
Wow... I just read a post about "Elopement Syndrome" that is an autistic trait that is essentially the feeling of needing to uproot life and start over in a completely new place. The tendency to want to run off into the forest or just run off in general... And honestly idk... the more I find out about this stuff the more it devastates me because I keep learning that my entire life has just been a bunch of autistic coping mechanisms.
yall can join the motorcyclists, smokers and drinkers in the hospital ward ig. & i mean this mostly for the people who dont need GLP-1s for medical reasons
people getting hopped up on GLP-1s probably dont want to hear that a good amount of this hype is contributing to the demand for my profession in healthcare lol
praying that SPA counts my pre-membership practice hours for CPD because gdi i worked thousands of hours. if I get them counted I could get full practising membership before I even apply for SLP jobs in aus 🙏🙏🙏
@ThePOTSPostman The good day amnesia feeling is always funny. Like "maybe it's not so bad? Maybe it IS all in my head?" Then WHAM! "Nope, my mistake."
And that really shows how much we WANT to be back to normal. Just a taste of it and we're ready to completely forget our illness even existed.
Nothing creates self-doubt quite like a good day with chronic illness.
You begin questioning whether you’re actually as sick as you thought.
For a little while, you start believing you’re getting your old life back.
Then your symptoms come rushing back and you’re reminded that feeling better isn’t the same as getting better.
ways that are actl fulfilling and regulating for them. we seriously do not all need to be talking with abled people to be a positive force in the community/world - you can be the cardboard box autistic guy and be doing more for the world than a fking product manager tbvh
like I want disabled adults to have the freedom to be completely disinterested in their neighbours as individuals in a conventional social way if thats what is safe & authentic for them. while them still being able to have a positive rship to the social and relational world in
