If you’ve followed tech over the last decade, you’ve seen the pattern:
- Full Self-Driving is "12 months away" (since 2016).
- Mars human landings promised by 2021.
- Product launches delayed by 3–5 years.

It’s easy to dismiss this as misdirection, but looking closer reveals a specific planning dynamic worth examining—what we might call the Elon Exaggeration Factor (EEF).

The EEF isn't simply about being wrong; it's the gap between theoretical technical feasibility and real-world implementation at scale.

Why does this happen so consistently?
1. Best-Case Pathing: Timelines are built assuming zero friction—no supply chain failures, regulatory delays, or physics edge-cases.
2. Velocity as Strategy: Setting an impossible deadline forces teams to strip away bureaucracy and innovate at maximum speed, even if the deadline itself is missed.
3. The Final 10% Trap: In software and hardware, the last 10% of safety, validation, and regulatory compliance often takes 90% of the effort.

The paradox of the EEF is that while the short-term predictions fail, the underlying shift often eventually succeeds. Reusable rockets were "impossible" until Falcon 9 landed. Mass-market EVs were a niche until the Model Y led global sales.

UK Riots

Yes there is misinformation however people generally are on tender hooks as they see things happening and being treated unjustly. Consider immigrants are staying in hotels and given money whereas local people are suffering with a housing crisis, unemployment etc.

Also local crime happens because people feel the need more and are not happy. We have so much inequality in our world. Rather than being in more police (a short term solution), how about helping the poor... Just a thought.
