There are two voices vying for your attention: the voice of doubt and the voice of faith. You get to choose which voice becomes a reality. The voice you dwell on, the thoughts you believe, that’s going to determine who you are.
God has an assignment for you at every age. You are not too old. This world needs what you have. We need your wisdom. We need your talent, your experience, your love.
Good enough is not your destiny. God put greatness in you. He has an awesome future in store. Get thirsty again. Start dreaming again, start believing again, start hoping again.
Psalm 107 says, God satisfies the thirsty soul with good things. If you’re going to see good things—healing, breakthroughs, favor—you have to stay thirsty. God didn’t put a dream in your heart that He can’t bring to pass. There’s not a problem you’re in that He can’t bring you out of. The question is: are you thirsty?
"God said in the book of Joel, “I will pour out my Spirit upon all flesh.” Not just the young, the old, the middle-aged. The boomers, but not the millennials, not Gen Z. No, God’s Spirit is poured out on every age. He went on to say, “Your old men will dream dreams, and your young men will see visions.” God was showing us how both the young and the old are important. We will accomplish more together than we will apart.
Paul said it this way, “Outwardly this house that I live in may be perishing, but inwardly I’m being renewed day by day.” He was saying, “Things may be aging on the outside, but inwardly I’m refreshed, I’m renewed.” Your attitude determines your age more than your birthday.
You went to God with your request. Now add the thanksgiving. Believe that it’s already done. From now on, no more begging God for the same thing. “Father, thank You that I am free. Thank You that I’m whole. Thank You that the power in me is greater than what’s trying to stop me.”
Don’t be intimidated by the size of your dream. He’s the one who put it in your heart. Those things God whispered to you that you haven’t told anyone about, it seems so unlikely that you don’t see how it could ever happen. God wouldn’t have spoken that to you if He didn’t have a way to bring it to pass. All He needs is for you to come into agreement. Dare to ask Him.
Don’t be defined by one event. Don’t let one failure, one disappointment, one bad season, sour the rest of your life. Move forward in faith. Your destiny is waiting. Your children are counting on you. This is your time to shine. Dare to believe.
You may have failed, but you are not a failure. That’s what you did, that’s not who you are. You may have doubted, but you’re not a doubter. Don’t let that label become permanent. You may struggle with an addiction, but you are not an addict. You are a child of the Most High God. Don’t let people label you. Let God label you.
All your emotions may say, “Be disappointed. Live in self-pity. Give up on your dreams." No, come back to that place of peace, that place of trust. God is ordering your steps. He is the author of your story. He has planned your days for good and not for harm.
The enemy is called the accuser. He’d love for you to live down on yourself. He’ll remind you of every mistake you’ve ever made. It may all be true, but what he doesn’t tell you is that there’s another chance coming. God’s mercy is bigger than your mistakes.
Paul wrote much of the New Testament from a prison cell. The enemy thought he was shutting Paul up, but God knows how to take what was meant for harm and use it to your advantage. In that prison cell, Paul wrote, “Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice.” He wrote, “May the God of hope fill you with all joy.”
Take a break from telling God everything that’s wrong. He already knows your needs. There’s nothing wrong with asking, but at some point, you need to switch over to thanking Him for what He’s promised.
I’m not saying there won’t be obstacles, and people trying to stop you, and times you could feel overwhelmed, but God is not going to leave you there. There will be moments of favor where God makes things happen that you couldn’t make happen, favor that catapults you into your destiny, favor that opens doors you can’t open, favor that surrounds you.
God is not obligated to bring to pass what we say, but He is obligated to bring to pass what He says. When He hears His promises coming out of your mouth, angels go to work, forces of darkness are pushed back, favor is released in a new way.
