During his presidency of the UN General Assembly, Abdulla Shahid established the President of the General Assembly Fellowship for HOPE, the first fellowship created by a President of the UN General Assembly to give young diplomats, particularly from Small Island Developing States, Least Developed Countries and other underrepresented nations, first-hand experience at the highest level of multilateral diplomacy.
The fellowship has continued beyond his presidency and continues to benefit young people even today.
Opportunities for many young people in the Maldives remain limited. Too often, they are overlooked while connections determine who gets ahead.
Abdulla Shahid has already shown on the world stage that he believes in creating opportunities for young people, not just talking about them.
If he could create a lasting opportunity for youth at the United Nations, imagine what he could do for the youth of the Maldives.
Maldives needs a President with a global vision and a proven record of turning that vision into reality.
That leader is Abdulla Shahid.

A pleasure to reconnect with my dear friend Ambassador Jong-moon Choi, together with @MariyaDidi and @evattey.
We discussed strengthening the MDP's engagement with ICAPP and its network of Asian political parties, reaffirming the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and strong regional partnerships.
No citizen should fear losing their livelihood because of their political beliefs, affiliations, or personal choices.
A government that punishes people for how they think or who they support does not serve the public. It serves itself. Public institutions must be guided by fairness, professionalism, and the rule of law, not political retaliation.
The Maldives' steady democratic decline should concern us all.
Happy International Day of #WomenInDiplomacy!
Under my Presidency of the UNGA, I convened a dialogue with women diplomats from various Missions. They raised some important points
1⃣that women diplomats have contributed significantly to global diplomacy, and international negotiations
2⃣that they continue to face a number of challenges, some specific to the field of diplomacy, but within the broader context as well
From these discussions was born the idea of an International Day to address these issues.
I was honoured to preside over the meeting that adopted the Maldives led resolution with the co-sponsorship of 191 Member States,
Today, I congratulate the courage and perseverance of women diplomats here in the Maldives and around the world. And underscore the need to continue efforts to address gender discrimination, violence against women, and structural inequalities that continue to hinder women's full and meaningful participation in public life.
This Father's Day approaches us at a time when the world is coming together around football. I look back with fondness on this moment my father Sheikh Moosa Jameel and I shared during the 2022 World Cup, proudly wearing red in support of Morocco.
I miss him dearly. Every day, I find myself reflecting on my father and the example he set. His wisdom, integrity, and quiet strength continue to guide me every day.
Today, I honour all fathers and father figures whose love, sacrifice, and values help shape our families, communities, and nation. To those remembering their fathers today, you are in my thoughts.
