The authors of a Comment article in @NatRevMater make the case that women departing academia exacts a massive scientific and economic toll, and outline reforms to promote funding efficiency in the academic sector. https://t.co/ui3PzYYICq
Very glad to share our work published in @CellGenomics! Especially big thanks to @eliasrfos , @anton_gh , @HaaseKerstin and J.Schulte.

Delighted to see this piece published @Nature .
Only about 1% of genomic studies use data from people of African ancestry, and those data are mainly from African Americans.

The mistaken presumption that the genetics of a relatively small diaspora must apply to all Africans threatens to widen the health disparities between people in Africa and those in wealthy nations.

New @theNASEM report on population descriptors: "Using a new framework for change, the report describes guiding principles and best practices for research." Committee members include @PRSdiversity investigator @genandgenes and external advisors @LuisaBorrell@rick_kittles
Dear reviewer, I apologize for taking longer than expected, but a misogynistic, homophobic, racist government tries to cancel democracy for good and we are busy fighting for our children's future. Hopefully we can complete the suggested experiments soon.
Diversity in genomic research is critical for the equitable translation of genomic advances to improve health. Please consider submission of relevant manuscripts to this special issue of @GenomeMedicine (co-edited by me and @SFatumo from @LSHTM) that addresses this topic head-on

And from the original paper by Wapman, K. H. et al (2022): "gains in women’s representation over this decade result from demographic turnover and earlier changes made to hiring, and are unlikely to lead to long-term gender parity in most fields" #womeninscience
What I found 'horrifying' about this article is that the author thinks science was a totally unbiased "endeavor predicated on pursuing knowledge and truth" up till now. That and that the article is a continuum of weak statements and half-truths.
