I built a little web app that you might like: a personal dashboard for tracking the moon 🌕, the tides, and the perfect time to walk the beach. It works with any of the 3,000+ NOAA tide stations along the US coastline. You can use the "Add to Home Screen" function on your phone to add the web app to your home screen with its own app icon.
These are the orange buoys that mark the security perimeter around the fireworks barge — please stay clear of the safety zone around the barge at all times!

Please be aware that a Safety Zone around the barge will be implemented and patrolled tomorrow, July Fourth — stay clear of the barge and safety perimeter that is marked with orange buoys.
Please comply with any instructions from one of our SAFETY PATROL VESSELS that are marked with orange Privileged Vessel flags. They are volunteers and are only trying to protect you and comply with the Coast Guard Requirements.
Please see this chart for an approximate barge position and size of the safety zone.

ANNOUNCEMENT FROM THE MARBLEHEAD FIREWORKS COMMITTEE
We are very sorry to have to announce that the Marblehead Fireworks and Harbor Illumination 2024 are not going to be happening this year.
There was a fire on the barge in the middle of the night, and the cause of the fire has not been determined yet. Fortunately, nobody was on the barge at that time and there were no injuries reported, as far as we know.
Again, as a result of this incident, the Fireworks Committee has determined that we are unable to have the fireworks and harbor illumination this year. If you have received any flares from the fire department for the illumination, we ask that you please return them to the fire department at your earliest convenience, so that we can reuse them for next year.
All other events surrounding the celebration of Independence Day in Marblehead today are not affected by this announcement, and those events will proceed as planned.
Notwithstanding this sad situation, we still wish you all a Happy Fourth of July!
Sincerely,
Marblehead Fireworks Committee
If you are planning to enjoy the fireworks from your boat or if you are planning a boat trip on the Fourth during the day, please remember that the US Coast Guard and the Marblehead Harbormaster have established a safety zone around the fireworks barge at the mouth of the harbor. All boaters are advised to use caution when transiting the area.
The safety zone will be patrolled by a civilian boat patrol during the day and by the Marblehead Harbormaster after 1800 (6:00 PM).
Please stay out of the safety zone and follow all directions by the civilian boat patrol, Harbormaster, and US Coast Guard vessels and personnel. Thank you!

The Marblehead Fireworks Committee is pleased to announce the following details about the July 4th Fireworks and Harbor Illumination 2024:
Sunset on July 4th is at 8:25 PM. The Harbor Illumination is scheduled to start at 9:00 PM when flares are lit all around the perimeter of the harbor, creating a magnificent ring of light that sets the stage for the main event: at 9:15 PM the fireworks are launched off a barge at the mouth of Marblehead Harbor, which creates ideal viewing opportunities for the public from the parks at Fort Sewall, Chandler Hovey Park, and Crocker Park, as well as from boats.
High tide on July 4th is at 11:02 PM and low tide is at 4:39 PM, so please take the rising tide into consideration when anchoring for the fireworks. The US Coast Guard and Marblehead Harbormaster have established a safety perimeter around the fireworks barge, so use caution when entering or leaving Marblehead harbor during the Fourth and avoid the safety zone that will be marked by four orange marker buoys and will be patrolled by our volunteer civilian barge patrol flying orange privileged vessel flags.
For more information, including parking & traffic tips and details on the best viewing locations, please see our new website at https://t.co/HMKOUbPjFn
If the fireworks must be canceled due to severe weather conditions, an announcement will be posted on the website and the rain date is planned for July 5th.
Follow the Marblehead Fireworks on Twitter @MHDFireworks or on Facebook for updates throughout the day on the Fourth. For more information on traffic updates and public safety issues, follow the Marblehead Police Department on Twitter @Mheadpolice or Facebook. A special notice to operators of recreational or commercial “drones” (sUAS) is now also available on our website: https://t.co/2cOBkjkYtx
The Marblehead Fireworks Committee is an all-volunteer organization, and the fireworks display is 100% privately funded via donations. We thank the many businesses, clubs, civic organizations, and individual citizen donors who have already contributed to the 2024 fireworks display! However, we have not yet raised sufficient funds and still need your support! If you have not yet given, please consider donating now! You can send your donation via check payable to the Town of Marblehead, with “Fireworks” in the memo line, and mail it to Abbot Hall. This is a tax-deductible contribution. You can also donate online at https://t.co/3nx2yPGIdR or via @marbleheadfireworks on Venmo.

If you are a business or civic organization in our town, please expect to see our fundraising letters in the mail in early May - we need your support to make this happen...
So did Marbleheaders say, "General it is really icy and the weather sucks, can we bring you across the Delaware another night? Besides, it's Christmas!"
No, instead they pressed on, so did we.

Small delay on the barge. New start time target is 9:30.
Also, get all drones out of the air immediately. It is illegal to fly drones after sunset and during this event!
