On 8 Jan, marking RMI's return as a member of the @UN_HRC, the Permanent Mission attended the organizational meeting for the selection of troikas for the UPR in 2025. Bolivia, Kenya and the Republic of Korea will form the troika facilitating RMI's UPR in Nov 2025.
Climate change & conflict fuel even more hunger & suffering. Women still suffer disproportionately yet hold many of the solutions. We need them to be at the tables of change-making. Even at #COP29Baku — #wherearethewomen?

“In the Marshall Islands, we have a vision for a future with #cleanenergy and the resilience to withstand climate impacts - but we need much more money, and we need it faster.”~Dr. Hilda Heine, President of Marshall Island at #COP29Baku
WHERE ARE THE WOMEN?
Only 8 out of 78 world leaders are women, that is 10.2%! Women leaders are vastly outnumbered #COP29Baku – as usual. Women are leading on the front lines of climate crises, yet they’re not represented at the decision-making tables.

Nauru is cutting ties with Taiwan. Apart other implications, the announced next SG of the PIF was to be former Nauru President Baron Waqa, who stood up to China in the past and, at the time of his selection, was from a country that recognized Taiwan - two things that were a real problem for Beijing.
This change means that, at least, the next PIF SGwill be from a country that recognizes China rather than Taiwan.
This is a big win for China. More context in my piece from August.
