Arab countries that have spent the last several years engaging in armed defense of Israel from Iranian attacks (while issuing lip service statements about Gaza for public consumption) have been effectively building the future of their own enslavement in an Israeli-dominated region supported by the U.S. government.

The smarter thing to do would have been to find a way to be neutral and play the two sides against each other while building independent leverage.
