“I am the future of the world
I am the hope of my nation
I am tomorrow’s people
I am the new inspiration”
- Tomorrow’s People
Lyrics of an ad jingle. The words are so relevant today.

@ABSCBNNews This is the lesson of the “nanlaban” policy employed in the drug war of FPRRD. Sen. Bato forgot about it for a moment and had to scamper away from his arresting officers. Good thing he had allies in the Senate to give him sanctuary. Which ironically, he also eventually fled from.
Our lawmakers show exactly the opposite of GMRC. And one can only wonder how this will affect our learners? Civility and decorum in political discourse shouldn’t be that hard considering how many politicians wear their faith on their sleeve.

Voters should be constantly reminded that they spend millions of pesos every month to sustain the Senate and the HOR. That painful sting in the wallet should persist until 2028. This is the only way for voters to reclaim politics and governance.

Voters need the Fourth Estate. The bar for public office has been set too low for years now. Media must stop enabling the current clowns and plunderers in office. Voters must be empowered to get rid of these clowns and plunderers in 2028.

#realtalk lang. The closeness of the Ombudsman to the Prez should make the public feel a healthy scepticism. Which means media should be more aggressive in covering this beat. Media should devote more resources to cover the flood control corruption litigation.
#realtalk lang. The more we move away from the separation of powers principle, the less we’re able to win against corruption. Hopefully, we all accept that it’s always wrong to urge the Prez to intervene in an internal matter of Congress.

Really difficult to give the Maleta Boys the benefit of the doubt. Because a whistleblower’s natural instinct is to give the evidence on hand to the agency which can lead to the prosecution and imprisonment of the villains. That would be the Ombudsman.

The next critical question now is: Who will be the presiding officer in the impeachment trial? The presiding officer must be someone with a judicial temperament. Someone who can be impartial and tries to appear impartial. This must be the standard.

Another potential constitutional issue of interest. Can the Senate do something not prescribed in the Prez’s call for a special session? The constitution is silent on this matter. IMHO, the Senate can’t. The special session is reserved only for matters prescribed in the call.
The public demands imprisonment for the corrupt and recovery of the stolen funds. These outcomes will NEVER be delivered by the Blue-Ribbon Committee, whoever its chairman may be. Public interest is better served by pressuring the SC to open corruption trials to media.
Should senators detained under a plunder indictment be given special treatment? The answer, of course, should be a big fat, No! The law may be harsh, but it must still apply to all. No special treatment for anyone. Even if it’s for a good cause.

Our politics have sunk so low that we’re now contemplating a scenario where 9 senators can be detained for corruption or evading arrest as a very realistic possibility. That this egregious situation is now dictating how we should interpret our constitution. #realtalk lang.
Bro. Eddie’s advice to his son to listen to his conscience and not to his friends is clearly a moral indictment against the Cayetano block. Obviously, some folks within their ranks don’t see the righteous cause that Sen. Cayetano has been banging about. https://t.co/LwuOAXlogv
Electing a new SP can be done in a special session called by the Prez. But that must be explicitly sanctioned by the presidential call itself. Possibly under the general collatilla of “other urgent matters”.

Very clear now that a deeper understanding of the 1987 Constitution is absolutely necessary. But we also need a remedial class in civility and decorum. We want to understand each other. That won’t happen if we don’t make an effort to listen.

The Senate’s descent to hell could’ve been decelerated had ALL senators after June 3 just retreated to respective corners to calm down. The Senate would’ve been able to retain some speck of public trust. Its employees spared from severe stress.
