We're just stupid people with a terrible record of judging character.

Name one politician who got into office, turned out to be incompetent or corrupt, and didn't have glaring red flags long before they were elected?

The signs are almost always there. We ignore them because they belong to our tribe, tell us what we want to hear, or promise us what we desperately want.

"Politicians are snakes" is a comforting lie. It allows us to pretend we were deceived instead of admitting we made poor choices.
