The new state budget:
✅No tax hikes
✅No fee hikes
📉Smaller than last year
How did we do it?
1⃣ Locked in more funding for road repairs last year
2⃣ Eliminated taxes on tips, overtime and social security.
For the first time, someone made the Democrats do more with less
We're finally turning the tide and shrinking Michigan's bloated budget
Spending rose more than 40% under Gov. Whitmer and taxes went up with it 📈
We cut taxes, blocked more tax hikes and shrunk the budget two years in a row - giving you better value 💵
Great progress! 👍
Thank you to Rep. Bohnak for your work stopping hedge funds from buying up all the family homes and driving up the price for the rest of us.
He's been working hard to get that done, and now his bill to stop it will be signed into law as part of the new state budget deal.
Great news for Michigan families who want affordable homes and more options on the market. 🏡
Another major win in the budget this year -- another part of the Hall Ethics Accountability & Transparency (🔥HEAT🔥) plan will be signed into law.
We are closing the revolving door that lets politicians negotiate with special interests for their next job while they're supposed to be on the job for us.
One Democrat rep even got paid to lobby in another state while she was supposed to be serving in the Legislature here in Michigan last term.🤦
No more!
Biden wouldn't do it. Trump got it done.
The Selfridge fighter jet mission is historic for Michigan and will be remembered for years to come as a crucial building block of Michigan's growing role in national defense.
Michigan is one of the lowest states for:
📚Reading scores
💰Income
📈Population growth
Years of poor policy have left our students struggling, families taking home lower paychecks, and fewer people coming to live here as more people leave.
We're working to change that.
📚MAKING REAL INVESTMENTS IN EDUCATION📚
Michigan reading scores are 44th in the nation. This budget funds our schools at record levels, gets back to basics, and supports teachers with new tools and resources.
✅Hall Universal Breakfast & lunch in Schools (HUBS)
✅Dual enrollment for every school and every student
✅Per-student funding increased $250 to $10,300 per student
✅LETRS training now in law to train teachers in the science of reading and improve Michigan reading scores
✅Mental health & school safety funding
✅New funding for tutoring, including pilot programs for parents to choose their own tutors
✅Funding for teacher bonuses, dual enrollment, buses, & early learning
✅Teacher fellowships opened up to every school and every student, allowing them to hire more teachers
Fact check: True
📉 Smaller budget this year than last year
👻 Eliminated more ghost employees
💵 Cut hundreds of millions in waste, fraud and abuse
A much better budget that gives MI families more value for their tax dollars
Michigan Republicans claim that state spending has exploded under Democratic Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, but a review of the data shows there's more too it than raw numbers: https://t.co/CKjqRwRHKf
Just like last year, House Republicans went through every line of the budget.
This year, we discovered departments weren't spending BILLIONS of taxpayer dollars that had been allocated to them. That's billions taken from you — not to fund a program, not to improve services — just to sit in a government bank account.
This year, we refocused on making sure government is getting value for dollars rather than squirreling them away for unapproved, unintended uses.
🚨BREAKING: MICHIGAN STATE BUDGET PASSES, HOUSE REPUBLICANS DELIVER MASSIVE WINS🚨
Republicans hold majority in just one out of three parts of Michigan state government, but you wouldn't know it.
This state budget cuts spending by hundreds of millions, secures critical programs, and makes state government more efficient🧵
What if you had to get permission from the state just to make small improvements on your own property?
Turns out, you do — and that’s exactly why we passed Rep. Matthew Bierlein’s HB 5707.
This commonsense bill cuts through the red tape, giving homeowners and small farms the freedom to create modest backyard or farm ponds without navigating endless EGLE bureaucracy.
No more horror stories for people who followed the rules, built their pond, and still faced demands to rip it out. House Republicans are protecting private property rights and reining in government overreach one practical reform at a time.
@MatthewBierlein
Michigan's reading scores are 44th in the nation. 44th.
Ever since Democrats repealed the third-grade reading law, students have been sold short and passed onto the next grade without the accountability or support they need to succeed.
House Republicans are equipping teachers with the tools to teach the science of reading and set students up for bright futures.
Michigan's new state budget is a big win for taxpayers.
House Republicans rejected hundreds of millions of dollars in new taxes and fees and threw out billions of dollars in pork projects backed by Lansing insiders.
Here's what did make it:
⬇️ A smaller budget than last year
👻 Eliminated more ghost employees out of state government
👮 Strong reforms to expose waste, fraud and abuse
Preserving the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact is one of the most important things House Republicans got done for Michigan this year.
With a looming deadline, we protected care for thousands of Michiganders by helping doctors keep their licenses to practice in the state at a time when we are up against a shortage of medical professionals.
Great analysis by @taxreformer. Two of the biggest wins in this year's budget - no new taxes and smaller spending than last year by hundreds of millions of dollars.
The Democrats proposed $800m in tax hikes and raids on the state's rainy day fund to pay for all of their pork, and we held the line.
After big tax cuts last year when we implemented President Trump's no tax on tips, overtime and Social Security, this was another big win for Michigan taxpayers!

HOUSES ARE FOR FAMILIES, NOT CORPORATIONS
We passed bills to ban hedge funds and big corporations from buying up all the houses in Michigan, leaving families empty-handed and the American dream out of reach.
Thanks to House Republicans, housing in Michigan is going to become MORE AFFORDABLE.
🔓UNLOCKING HOMEOWNERSHIP🏡
House Republicans passed a ban on hedge funds buying up mass amounts of housing.
This will free up homes, addressing Michigan's housing shortage.
The Senate should pass this common-sense measure to help people afford the American dream.
@JoshuaSchriver
Some Michigan numbers for Parks & Recreation Month:
🇺🇸6 National sites
🏞️103 state parks
🌲300,000 acres
🏊♂️2 peninsulas
🏖️2 coastlines
🏕️13,750 campsites
🫧4 great lakes touching our shores
📍38,000,000 visits a year to places like sand dunes, waterfalls, and beautiful forests
And an endless amount of weekend plans.
What would this year's budget look like without House Republicans?
All year long, Democrats said we had to raid the state's rainy-day fund to pass the budget.
Turns out all we needed was House Republicans doing the work and finding hundreds of millions of waste, fraud, & abuse in state government to pass a smaller budget than last year and keeping our rainy-day fund FULLY INTACT.
What would this year's budget look like without House Republicans?
We've been saying since last year's budget there were more ghost employees to cut in state government.
Just as promised, we cut hundreds more this year.
Hundreds of thousands of Michiganders woke up to dark homes and extreme heat this weekend. Senate Dems need to wake up to reality and pass our plan to fix it.
We've paid for years of rate hikes. We deserve a grid that works. Instead, Democrats passed costly green energy mandates while the outages keep coming.
House Republicans have a better plan:
⚡ Make reliability and affordability—not "environmental justice"—the top priorities for utility regulators
💵 Roll back $1 billion in utility rates
🌳 Prevent outages by requiring better tree trimming around power lines before storms hit
Republicans passed these solutions, but Senate Democrats won't.
Michigan families deserve a reliable electric grid, not higher bills, more mandates, and another weekend in the dark.
