@BridgetteAreva2 @LqLana Absolutely correct. 20 years since my own ordeal and I still canโt walk in to an L&D unit without hyperventilating. Luckily Iโm in a different specialty but at times we will be called to help monitor heart patients or get a kiddo set up for ECMO.
@much_hypocrisy Everyoneโs pain and experience is different, so I wonโt compare mine to yours. I had a nonviable pregnancy that ended in fetal demise and infertility. Thank you for sharing your story to the broader audience to promote understanding.
Holding space for you. โค๏ธ

Females of all ages are having their medical decisions decided by lawmakers and judges. I often wonder how elected officials and confirmed judges, including those on the US Supreme Court are allowed to practice medicine without a license. There is not one law which governs any medical decisions for a male, yet a 12 year old rape victim in Alabama was forced to give birth.
I was living in Arizona. I had been on the Depo Provera injection for six years because I had been diagnosed in my early 20s with stage four endometriosis. I was engaged and my doctor informed me that it would take six to nine months to get pregnant. I decided to stop my injections. We wanted to have two children. We had our future planned.
It didn't take six or nine months, it was two. I was cooking Thanksgiving dinner. I began to cramp. I felt a sharp stabbing pain that dropped me to my knees. The next thing I knew, I was bleeding. I was holding onto my stomach, crying and at times letting out an gutteral scream that I didn't know was possible. I had already begun to grieve.
I knew what was happening. I knew that this meant I would never have a child. I knew I needed emergency medical intervention. I was carried to my vehicle with a blanket wrapped around me, the bleeding was getting heavier. The pain was excruciating, but the emotional anguish was worse. The grief was palpable.
Once I arrived at the emergency room, the only question was mine, "Can anything be done?" I didn't need to hear the answer. I knew, my then fiance knew as did the doctor. My grief was growing stronger.
I had an emergency D & C. This was my second pregnancy and my dreams of being the mother were gone. The names I had picked out were irrelevant and the quilted baby blanket with a bunny would never be used. All of the items I had saved were useless. My grief was at a fever pitch.
My life was saved. No questions asked. No laws to worry about. No doctor on the phone with the hospital attorney. There was only compassion for my despair. I was hospitalized. I was in shock and I was too weak to return home. This grief was compounded by my then fiance wanting children. We never got married. Our relationship didn't survive. He is married with two children. I still grieve.
Each year I dread the Thanksgiving holiday. I too often missed family gatherings. I sometimes don't want to get out of bed. I still grieve.
Twice I was unable to carry a fetus to term because of circumstances I could not control. I still grieve.
Abortion is healthcare. We are not property. We are human beings who have to face either difficult decisions or traumatic experiences. We will never go back and I will fight for every child, teenager or adult female while I STILL GRIEVE.
@girldrawsghosts Strong work! I recommend metoprolol for his very obvious high blood pressure; no known remedy for his narrow and depraved views, though.
Worse than the historical and science illiteracy of the anti-vaccine movement is the disrespect to the millions who died during the pandemic and the countless health care workers who risked their lives to save them.

We always knew that abortion bans would lead to the criminalization of women and that Black women would be impacted disproportionately, per usual.
If you were disgusted and furious before, let me introduce you to Brittany Watts.
A Black Ohio woman who was 21 weeks and 5 days pregnant.
She had begun passing thick blood clots.
The doctor said that, while there was a fetal heartbeat, her water had broken prematurely, and the fetus was not going to survive.
She was told she would need her labor induced, so she could deliver the nonviable fetus. Otherwise, she would face a โsignificant riskโ of death.
For the next three days, she made multiple trips to the hospital, the last day she waited eight hours, then left.
You see the hospital had been deliberating over the legalities of the procedure.
Brittany ended up miscarrying in the toilet, flushing and plunging.
Now sheโs being charged with abuse of a corpse, a fifth-degree felony punishable by up to a year in prison and a $2,500 fine.
Abortion was legal in Ohio through 21 weeks, six days of pregnancy.
She miscarried at 22 weeks.
This woman had to go through the ordeal of carrying a non-viable fetus.
In and out of the hospital while hospital officials tried to interpret the law.
Went home and ended up miscarrying alone and afraid.
The Republican plan to punish women and girls is working flawlessly.
The women and girls in your lives will not be safe if we keep allowing Republicans to create policies that harm us.

@StudentsforLife Legal precedents do nt see frozen Embryos a "people"
2018 , a freezer full of Embryos failed.
A couple tried to sue stating those Embryos are "people"
Case dismissed.
@StudentsforLife No. Women are people. Embryos are potential people. A woman does not lose her human rights when she becomes pregnant. She does not become a container or the moral equivalent of a handful of cells.
@StudentsforLife Embryos and fetuses are not people according to the law of the land, nor in the perceptions of most people who feel that being a "person" means already possessing certain abilities that differentiate our species from other living things on this planet.
@ponygirl923 Wow this is an utter fucking joke. More like forced birth and no support following birth of the childโฆ ya know, cuz welfare is wrong. Canโt believe the mental gymnastics. Absolutely painful.
Forced birthers cry about the lost potential of an aborted fetus, that it could've become the person who cured cancer. They never mention the potential cancer curers who have no food, no shelter, no money for college, and those who were shot to death in elementary school.
This is disgusting. I recently caught covid for the 1st time (thanks vaccines that worked) and had a relatively minor case in the grand scheme of things. Still took me a month to get my full energy & endurance back. Screw this employer with a cactus.
