@sinaviru No one is harmed when you pirate a game that hasn't been sold or produced in 20+ years.
Many people are harmed by AI. Whether it be due to the effects data centers have on the environment, or it being used to falsify information to use against people.
@neko_neko_R I suppose there's Valve... but even then some people have issues with their development times and how they handle second hand markets for stuff like CSGO or TF2
Even then, they're more a tech company than game company nowadays
@Eltralia_C@RoytaMustDie Obviously I can't speak for companies here ofc, but if a one did make a profit, even after all that struggle, they'd be more likely to just keep trying for more. More money is better than no money is what they tend to think. The West is more profit focused overall unfortunately.
@Eltralia_C@RoytaMustDie Ah I see. That is a fair enough reasoning to decide against it, it does comes with risks and no guarantees. I suppose, and mean no disrespect by this, that we have a more bold approach to business overall. If there's money to be made we will try making it most of the time.
@Eltralia_C@RoytaMustDie You all seem to have a more personable image of corporations overall, which we in the West fundamentally lack due to how they operate/treat customers here. In that regard we sometimes pirate out of respyfor said creators actually. Id look at Disco Elysium if you're curious 2/2
@Eltralia_C@RoytaMustDie I do agree they all deserve respect and compensation for what they do.
But I disagree that they specifically would suffer if official channels were created. That would, from my understanding, fall on another company to distribute. 1/2
@Eltralia_C@RoytaMustDie I see. So if I'm understanding correctly... you do understand why people pirate and can accept that. It's just the fact that it circumnavigates the creator that you really dislike. Would that be correct?
@Eltralia_C@RoytaMustDie In that case I have a genuine question for you. Say a game gets released exclusive to Japan. Someone pirates it and years later the creator learns about it and is okay with it. Would that be an okay form of piracy to you or is it still bad because they didn't know from the start?
@reinica_ I really wanna say Ruri Rocks, but I fear it doesn't exactly meet the criteria of "no erotic scenes" it's not trying to be erotic but it's definitely not trying to not be evocative sometimes y'know...
@jojogiogio1234 Not really. I mean we often pirate over here if we just dislike the corporation behind them. Disco Elysium is a great example. Amazing game, but they fucked over the creators and we choose to support them by not giving the company any money, and pirate the game instead
